Good Food, Good Prices. My wife and I are RVing at Stone Mountain and were looking for a good family style lunch. Went for lunch on Wednesday, 8-10-2011. It was busy with lots of locals which is always a good sign. I had stuffed pepper and new potatoes and my wife had chicken fried steak with mashed portatoes - both were very good. My wife also had fresh home grown tomatoes which were excelent.

Good Southern cooking. Visited our daughter and her husband twice in the past few months and this is always our favorite place to visit. Not fancy at all but very homey and tastey food. This is a nostalgic establishment.

A True Old Fashioned Southern Cafeteria! Real Turkey & Dressing Every Thursday!. As a kid, I remember riding out to Tucker, seemed far out back then, with my Grandfather to pick-up supplies at Cofer Brothers. We would always stop by Matthew's Cafeteria, across the street, for lunch. I've only been back a couple of times, but Matthew's is the real deal. A true Southern Cafeteria. It won't break the budget, but for around $7.00, you can get a meat and two, and refillable glasses of sweet tea. And meat, I mean fried chicken, meatloaf, fried flounder on Fridays, and great prepared Southern Style veggies, Green beans, fried green tomatoes, and some great mac 'n cheese. But the best day of the week, is Thursdays. And every Thursday, is Thanksgiving Day. Fresh Baked Turkey, not processed, dressing, giblet gravy, and cranberry sauce. This is a feast, and a bargain. Grandma's cooking lives!

Real Southern Food. Matthew's is a place where you can find fried green tomatoes, okra, homemade banana pudding, and other basic southern stuff, cooked to perfection. The staff is friendly, and you don't find this type of meat-and-two sides dining many places nowadays. They have efficient take-out too, just ask at the register. It's also a great place to take visitors who want to enjoy southern cafeteria cooking.

Best Country Cookin'. Not only does Matthew's offer the best country cookin' - but they sell it to you cheap too. This is what Tucker, GA is famous for. If you've never eaten at Matthew's Cafeteria, it's well worth driving the extra mile for. My Grandmother used to cook the best food in South Georgia... since she passed away, this is where I can get that same kind of cookin'.

This is some real good food, and the ladies that work there kind of do look like my grandmother!!!
