The Scene
The black-and-white combo used on tablecloths and chairs is reiterated in classy framed photos and faux flower arrangements, creating a high-end hotel vibe in an unlikely strip-mall setting. The earliest arrival on Atlanta's fine-dining Thai scene, the restaurant wins with fancy presentations and immaculate table service.
The Food
Exotic dishes, like sauteed escargots with Asian basil and black soy broth. The soft-shelled crab with tamarind-brown butter sauce looks promising, but a bland, crunchy exterior yields an overcooked interior. Barbecued minced shrimp skewered on a hunky stick of sugarcane and a side of sweet and spicy chili sauce makes a much better appetizer. Entrees are served with haute-cuisine temperament. Best bets include the roasted duck breast layered with plum sauce atop a mashed taro concoction and grilled filet mignon over a noodle cake in an Indonesian curry.

I have eaten here about 5 times. Be sure to make reservations on Valentines day, Mothers day, and New Year's Eve! Otherwise, just walk right in! The food is amazing!! Perfect for a special night out. It gets overlooked as it is in a shopping center. Get dressed up a little! Tablecloths are black with cobalt blue glasses. You can order to go as well! My husband and I choose to go here for special occassions and will spend $60-$80 with an appetizer and dessert.

My girfriends and I have been eating here for about 2 years now. The food is spicy, tangy, perfect, beautifully presented and not at all overpriced. Not once have I been disappointed. It has my vote for best service in Atlanta. Northlake Thai is never full, because no one has discovered it yet! Don't let the fact that its in a strip mall dissuade you. You'll be SO glad you went. If Tamarind is too crowded or you don't want to deal with Midtown traffic...this is IT!
