What People Are Saying About Village Corner

The Owner

Village Corner

Owner

The Basket Bakery originally began as a wholesale bakery with a small additional luncheon room, operated by the Frieses, a German couple. As the bakery's customers grew, so did the popularity of Hilde's extraordinary cooking. Now in its third location, The Village Corner German Restaurant includes a traditional style German tavern, a European bakery and a cafe style dining room that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. A traditional German menu contains potato pancakes, Black Forest ham and Weiner Schnitzel among other selections. Our artistic and decorative bakery cakes are worthy of any special occasion. In addition The Village Corner boasts a wonderful banquet room that facilitates weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, parties and much more.

The Scene – Sporting a faux-Alpine look that makes an appropriate addition to the storybook Stone Mountain Village setting, Village Corner is a combination tavern, restaurant and bakery. 4 Reviews in 2 years? I am obligated..

by Maam

I frequent the Bakery often. There are alot of negative reviews on this website for the most awsome place in town. I am sure that in the past( negative reviews are 4 in 2 years and way older) there may have been staffing problems or gratuity problems( Gratuity is written on menu) but I know that the place is clean, has awsome food & desserts. The bartenders Selena and Kristin are the best, so friendly and genuine, they care about your concerns and will go out of their way to make your experience a wonderful one. German food is prepared fresh, go to mcDs if you want speed. The Spetzel rocks my life along with the awsome drafts they carry. They might even give you a sample of your beer or Vino if you ask instead of demand. I love this place.. You will forever recieve my business.

Meh

by QBLAH

Poor service. Mediocre food. Do not honor reservations made on the web. I have been to the Village Corner several times but no more. I have overlooked the okay (not great) food and the strudel that is served cold. I have over looked the slow service. I kept coming back be cause it was the only German restaurant close by. No more. They botched our reservations on our anniversary dinner. Left word for the manager to call with staff and sent several emails.

Owner Contacted me to apologize for the troubles. Indicated that they were training new staff.

Very dirty, slow/rude service, dead bugs in cookie cabinet

by Kylie211

It was embarrassing to bring my out of town friends to this disgusting establishment. Stale bread, dirty tables/bathrooms, rude service, dead bugs visible in the dessert displays and also inside on the windows. Astronomical prices for poorly prepared food. Health inspectors would have a hay day in this place for sure. Gratuity automatically added to our tab- five people eating- without one mention of it from the server. Unbelievable. Like the area around it, this place is sub-par.

Stay Away From Their Mail Order!

by Terril Johnson

Placed an order 10 days in advance. It arrived 2 days late for the party. It was refused. Can not obtain refund on my credit card after E-mails, letters and calling. They advertise satisfaction guaranteed but ignore you once they get the $.
