Stone Mountain's Best Kept Secret!.
Restaurant is cozy and romantic.
Servers/restaurant are casual.
We ordered the Chicken Roma, Beer-battered shrimp, and Maple Salmon. Each includes salad, vegetable medley, and potato.
Vegetable beef soup: excellent - full of carrots, potatoes, celery, tomatoes, and ground beef in full-bodied broth.
Potato choices include mashed, twice baked, or fried sweet.
Enrees=Stunning: generous portions and full-plate presentations.
Maple Salmon: thick filet covered in maple reduction sauce - neither too sweet nor savory.
Beer-battered shrimp: jumbo, well-seasoned, crisp breading and tender shrimp.
Chicken Roma=awesome: chicken breast with prosciutto and mozarella cheese, covered in marsala wine sauce w/mushrooms.
Desserts are all homemade.
Servers: very friendly, willing to make recommendations / accomodate special requests.
Prices: Phenomenal! For all of this great food and service, prices ranged $12.95-$16.95.
The restaurant is located in the heart of the city of Stone Mountain, just outside of the park's East gate.

Great Food in a Cozy, Casual Environment!. Wells Cargo is located on Main Street in the historic district of Stone Mountain Village. We stopped here to dry off after our hike at Stone Mountain Park was rained out. It was the perfect place to warm up over chili, burgers and draft beers. The restaurant is a long rectangular room filled with antiques, a gas fireplace and a hodge-podge of different types of tables with candles. We weren't sure what to expect as to the quality of the food, but were pleasantly surprised, right down to the desserts. The chef even came out to ask us if we were enjoying our meal! With easy (and free) parking, a good location to the Stone Mountain Park and Great Food, we'll be back!
