Allergy Sufferers Beware!. The food was ok however, I mentined to the waiter I have a sea food allergy. Please make sure they do not cook my food near ANY SHELL FISH ITEMS. To my surprise as soon as I finished eating my food, I went to the ladies room, I noticed my face had broken out with red bumps. I knew right away I had an alergic reaction to shell fish. I talked to the manager about my situation and all he said was, " there is nothing I can do. If you go to the hospital I can take care of it , but I have no way of know if your face was like that before you came here". To my dismay I was surprised. I told the Manager, my face was not like this and I asked for my food not to be cooked near shell fish. My reaction was not called for a hospital visit. I just had to get some medicine in my system for the rest of the day.

My waiter saw my face and knew instantly that I had a breakout from the food. Needless to say, I will not be eating from this resturant anymore.

If anyone suffers from SHELL FISH, please don't eat from this resturant.

food is good, if they take your order right.... a simple chimichanga with plain meat doesn't exist, has to be strip steak only. Everything else is premixed. But when u say "i just want a chimichanga, with plainn meat (rattle through none premix argument), and just refried beans and cheese sauce and sour cream" would be nice to get it. Been eating here off and on for 4 years, and dred the group choice. Think my second visit i actually had my order right... Not a restaurant for picky eaters or finicky children.

Nachos Drowning in the Pool of Cheese, Call the Life Guard!. I remember when this restaurant used to be one of the best in Roswell. I've recently visited El Porton for lunch, the salsa was red and had no taste, it was spicy and lots of tomato... we ordered a Fajita Nachos, when the Nachos came it was a very small portion on a large plate, it was drowning in a pool of thinned-out melted cheese... we counted 6 small stripes of steak, one table spoon of sour cream, one table spoon of beans and lots of lettuce and hardly any chips, so we had to order more chips. The steak was tender, but not seasoned, we've been eating Nachos all over Georgia but by far this was the WORST NACHOS we ever had... I wonder if Gordon Ramsey can come and help this restaurant

Excellent place to Go for Great food and Friendly Faces - Thanks El Porton and good work. To Whom who loves GREAT MEXICAN DINNERS,

I am a local Roswell guy with a family and Business owner. I have been going to El Porton for Many years (1995?), They moved from the Roswell shopping center close to Mazzy's bar and Grill. They have been a constant Mexican place for freinds and family to have lunch with on Sundays. I have seen the same servers there for many years. I have gone to other local mexican places and wasn't near as satisfied with the food or service. I have Hired them to Cater at least 6 parties at my home and business and have no complaints.

I Recommend El Porton to anyone.

Ask for their famous Burrito Salsa for your chips prior to your meal.... I also enjoy their Surf Dip for the actual meal with their chips. can't wait til my next visit

Another Satisfied Customer,

Enjoy!!!

Don't believe the fake reviews. The food here tastes like it came from the freezer and was thrown into a microwave. It is far below average, almost to the point of being unpalatable. Several of my friends got indigestion after eating at El Porton. I will never go to this place again.

Never Again. My wife and I recently had dinner here. After we tasted the refried beans we immediately knew that they were bad. We told the waitress and she said that other customers had complained also. She smelled them and said that they smelled like bleach. I asked to see the manager but he never came to our table.

Better than average Mexican. I tried El Porton for the first time last night, and was pleasantly surprised by their expansive menu. They offer a variety of specialty dishes that aren't typically found at run-of-the-mill "number 12 combo" Mexican restaurants. I had the shrimp chimichanga, and while it was a tiny bit greasy, the flavor was good and it was refreshing to be able to order something I'd never seen on a menu elsewhere. Overall, it was good. Not the very best I've had in Atlanta, perhaps, but tasty enough that I'd put it in my top 5 for Mexican restaurants. I'll definitely go back.

Fresh, boldly flavored Tex-Mex served in a fun and casual suburban atmosphere.. The Scene
If not for the high volume of traffic pouring into the private parking lot, you could miss this freestanding building on busy Alpharetta Highway. Prepare to stand in the foyer--or have a beer or lifeless margarita at the packed bar--while waiting for a table. Surrounded by a noisy and energetic crowd, you'll hardly notice the sparsely decorated rooms.

The Food
El Porton's expansive menu is full of hearty Mexican flavors and fresh ingredients. Chips are served warm, and the salsa has a kick. If you want more starters, try the creamy guacamole seasoned with onion and peppers, or the buttery nachos smothered with grilled chicken and melted Jack cheese. The perfectly grilled fajitas are your best bet for an entree. Beef and shrimp quesadillas are packed with meat, but light on cheese and slightly greasy. When it's time for dessert, go for the flan.

Cheap, fast and reliable. Where else can you go in order, eat and pay in under 20 minutes for 6 bucks with tip? This place has been alive and kicking for years for a reason. Roswell and Alpharetta working class make this restaurant what it is during the day: A cheap alternative to fast food.

Most lunch items are under 6 bucks and come with free chips and salsa (it will arrive at the table when you do). The service is ok and varies on who you get and how much english they speak. The food is a lot better then the price suggests and the atmosphere is too.

This is a must for people in the area for lunch. Beat the rush and get there at 11:30, you wont be disappointed.

Throwing at us?!?!. We ate at El Porton and had a horriable experience. The server was obviously annoyed with us when the dinner came out cold for most of us and two of us got things we NEVER ordered. When he brought back the items that we DID order he threw them on the table and walked away. We tried to contact a manager but they would not get one for us. Instead a waiter pretended to be a manager until we caugh his bluff! What kind of service is that?
