What Our Expert Scouts Say

Best OTP Italian joint in the metro; family owned and Italian to the core..even complete with sterotypes! Aside from the entertaining atmosphere, the food is solid; veal scallopine stuffed with prosciutto and mushrooms is one of my favorites!

Mama's in the kitchen and she's the best. AWESOME!!! Recently remodeled to remind you of a real Italian restaurant. The food is to die for, as well as, the after dinner martini's. Get there early on the weekends or be prepared to wait. Parking is limited. Be ready for a taste of Italy that you can not get anywhere else in this country.

Salvatore's is NASTY. I have been to this restaurant many times and had a wonderful experience. The last visit was not so wonderful. Salvatore himself showed us to our table (it was early; they were not crowded) and insisted we sit in chairs facing the wall! I said I would like to sit in the other chair looking out on the room, and he blew up. My husband said "I suppose you don't care if we stay or leave", and Salvatore said "I don't care". We left...and will never be back!

Worth the drive!. I was curious about this restaurant after reading the reviews posted here. I invited a group of friends with us. It was about a 45 minutue drive for us. Decided to arrived 15 minutes before the restaurant opened. It's one of those type restaurants that you would drive by a million times and not think twice about stopping to try. We had great service & the quality Italian food exceeded my expectations! From the to die-for Calamari to the Tiramsu desert, it was outstanding. Yes, even though it was raining outside, there was a line out the

door waiting to get in. The "secret" to this restaurant is to get there early!

The Best. I've read the reviews of others and can't believe it! Each and every time I go to Salvatore's, I'm treated like family. So you might have to wait, big deal, get over yourself, it's obviously busy for a reason - it's worth it! What about those big name restaurants that don't take reservations, do you cry when you're minutes away and call ahead to see what the wait is and when you arrive it's different? Geez! I've always received great service, from the very first time I dined here 4 years ago. The food is excellent and it's obvious by the packed parking lot that some folks don't mind the wait, because it's worth it! The staff is friendly, the food is beyond excellent (homemade Cheesecake too!) and I'm proud to say it is MY favorite restaurant.

Is good food enough to override horrible service?. If you think Salvatore's is the only place serving good italian food, then I'm sure you will overlook the horrible service here. There was not one employee at this establishment who could be described as friendly and/or courteous. I KNOW there are other italian restaurants as good or better who know how to treat their customers. I will spend my money at these other restaurants and I suggest you do the same.

Awesome - and busy because of it!. The food here is great - period. True, home cooked Italian. Those who complain about the attitude have obviously never eaten in Italy (or Boston, for that matter!) The place is BUSY, folks - you can't always get a table, and they can't always suffer your whims, but man, do they make up for it with the food! The best gnocchi I have had, great sausage, superb home made sauces, in a very authentic small town Italian setting (read loud, crowded, a little dusty, but friendly!) A real neighborhood joint!

The one restaurant in Roswell where Tony Soprano would feel right at home.. The Scene
No yellow-sponged walls, no imported tile, no picturesque, faux-crumbling murals: This is what a Southern Italian neighborhood eatery should look like. A partition divides the smokers at the bar from families and first-daters in the simple dining room. Word is out on this place, and devoted regulars keep it frequently packed. Servers treat you like long-lost family.

The Food
Cooked with integrity and soulfulness, the food is no pallid Italian imitation. Hone in on the classics and you won't go wrong. Pasta e fagioli soup is complex and sublime, and fried mozzarella is astonishingly light. Pastas are simple and fresh--penne all Amatriciana with pancetta, white wine and tomato sauce is a standout. Too much nutmeg obscures the veal with crab and spinach, but capers and olives pack a balanced punch in the grouper alla Livornese. Of course, there's cannoli and ricotta cheesecake for dessert.

The Best. Moving down to GA from NYC I was faced with quite a challenge. Finding good Italian food. It took me two years to find a place that the sauce wasnt made from a can. The search is over, I have finally found the place that I can call home. Hands down the best Italian food in all of GA so stay away from all those so called Italian chain restaurants and "fugget" about it. Salvatore is Italian.

Michele. As a first generation Italian-American from NYC I feel I am able to rate Salvatore's realistically. This is as authentic as Italian (Neopolitan) cooking gets. They offer dishes, both on and off the menu, that my Mother (originally from Naples, Italy) made, which are the closest thing to home made that I have found in the Atlanta area. "Buono Appetito"!

Extremely BAD service. Last weekend I tried to bring my family a a few friends to this place. We called when we were within 7 minutes of the restaurant and asked what the wait time was. We were told 15 minutes.

We got to the place and then were told it would be over 45 minutes to seat us. I explained we had just called (since they didnt take reservations) and were told the wait was only 15 minutes.

The hostess didnt care and told us the wait was over 45 minutes. The owner came out and we told him what happened and he didnt care either.

Their attitude was they had more business than they needed. They didnt care what they said on the phone.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
