My Favorite Thai PLace. I LOVE the Rama Curry here, which I've never had anyplace else to be fair, but I can't see how you could improve on it anyway. It's delicious with either shrimp or chicken and the Thai soup that it comes with is amazing. I also like the basil rolls a lot. I've had several other dishes including the Panang Curry, Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and some specials and everything was very good. Still, the Rama Curry is the very best.
Best in Norcross/Duluth.
Been a faithful customer ever since the former establishment (Chinese restaurant) became Thai Star in 2000. I can imagine all the naysayers don't find too much to approve of in their lives, generally speaking.
(High maintenance comes to my mind)
Back to the food and lunch service...there is nothing on the menu that will disappoint, and I've had everything.
If you do find something you just don't like...don't wait till you've eaten half of it. Politely and humbly admit that the dish just doesn't agree with you and go for the House Fried Rice. (I don't work for Thai Star, period.)
Again, I've had everything, and while its slightly "Americanized" - imagine if the authentic heavy fish oil preparation laced everything on the menu, you probably would not have a kind review at all.
Keep on rocking Thai Star, and perhaps one additional payment terminal would alleviate the SLAM during a mad lunch hour. (you're slammed because the food is great!) Viva le Thai Star!!
AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!. I have been at this restaurant for dinner around february and really enjoyed the food. This time I wanted to order lunch because I work down the street from this place and didn't bring anything. I ordered Pad Khing, about $8. The lady who picked up said that they don't deliver or take payments over the phone. When I came to pick up the food I looked at the box but didn't open it. It was a pretty small box so I asked if something was missing out of the order. When I got back to work and opened up the box, only HALF of it was filled with food. There was rice on one side and 3 shrimps, couple of pieces of veggies (mostly ginger) and sauce on the other. IT WAS NOT WORTH WHAT I PAID FOR IT! I called the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager. The lady who answered said that the manager is not there and she doesn't know when he will be back and HUNG UP on me!!!! I don't know how they get customers with such ridiculous service!? I am very very disappointed! The manager should be ashamed!!!!!
BEST THAI RESTAURANT IN GEORGIA. My friends & I have been going to Thai Star since year 2000. I have tried other Thai rest. in the area, and they DO NOT compare to Thai Star. The food is OUTSTANDING, I get everything Thai HOT! CS service knows me when I call on the phone without me saying my name. When I sit down to eat, I immediately have my THai Tea presented and the staff usually knows what I'm going to order, I may switch it up sometimes. I take all of my out of town friends & family to this restaurant and they ALL love it. Their comments are "they can NOT find a Thai rest. in their state, that taste as good Thai Star! When they return to visit me, their request is to eat at Thai Star. I've been a fan since day one. I even know when the chef is on vacation, by the taste of the food! I normally have leftover food when I dine in, BUT this food is gets even better the next day, if your into eating leftovers, like I am. A FAN of THAI STAR 4 LIFE! TK U. My favorites are Basil Chicken leaves (ground chicken) and Panang Chicken (request ground chicken) Drunken Noodles and Coconut Soup! Again everything is ordered THAI HOT! :)
Used to love it but new check out policy is unacceptable. They won't separate checks for large parties. Very much an inconnvience for a restaurant that caters to a working lunch crowd. One person got stuck with a $130 check today because the check out guys "machine" couldn't handle the load to separate. VERY irritating. I won't go back.
Bad service. I went there on my friend's birthday during lunch time about an hour before closed lunch time. The server brought out the soup and food at the same time. After about 5minutes, she handed us the check without asking if we need anything else. She came back 1 minute to pick up the check when we were still eating. Bet she tried to rush us out of the restaurant. We hated to cause other people problem, so we didn't say anything to her or the manger but "will not come back".
Wonderful Thai--Favorite Place. I don't think that these bad reviewers went to the same restaurant--my husband & I go to Thai STar frequently b/c of the wonderful food, fast service & reasonable prices! I could not be happier with this restaurant & have NEVER had a bad experience there. Our portions are always large--we always carry left overs home for lunch & the prices are very low for the quality & quantity of food. The atmosphere is very nice as well.
Bad service. I am very disappointed with the food and service. We waited for more than 20 min to be seated. The dishes are small portioned. Not very authentic Thai dishes. Over priced.
Worse service, Worse Food, Small portion, NOT worth your money, DO NOT EAT THERE>.....
We paid more than 30 dollars for the food ( two salad and on fried rice) and the portion we got was not even enough for two people. (and we have small appetite). The inconsistency with the portion actually happened in the past but we just decide to let it go and try not to order from there as much. Today we decide to give another try (since it?s close by us) and again our food came in such small portion; i ordered beef fried rice, they gave chicken fried rice , i paid 10 dollars for the salad; the portion is smaller than a cup. It was so ridiculous to the point I decide I should make a phone call. What upset me is they handle it with such bad attitude. At first the guy insist I am getting what I paid for, then finally he said he promise to give me a ?credit? if I go back again (to be honest I don?t even think I want to go back) then he calls me back 10 min later tell me he spoke to the owner and chef b/c they gave me extra cabbage so they don?t? want to honor the ?credit? no more. They told me they can assure me that their portion is always consistent.. I let him know I go there from time to time for a year or so probably order more than 10 times and i can assure him the portion is inconsistent every time; he then asks why I never call in the past to complaint the problem and why now.
