I'll never play this Course Again. This course tries to act like it's high end, but it is most definately low-end. When we got to the course, the starter would give us a key to the cart until it was time to tee off...then tried to rush us to the tee box, as we were too slow walking from the driving range back up to the clubhouse to get the cart....this was a sign of things to come.

The first hole is a ctually a decent opening hole. but starting at #2 this course is a joke. 215 yards to the front of the green 245 to the hole, you might think that's a long par 3, no it's a par 4. The 3rd hole is where the joke becomes ridiculous. I teed my ball in the center of the tee box, aimed at the center of the green, struck it straight, but was knocked down by an overhanging tree... That's right, an overhanging tree that affects a tee shot struck with a wedge from the center of the teeing ground to the center of the green...I guess my mistake was thinking that I could actually tee off with the club that goes the right distance....instead of punching a tee shot so as not to be affected by a tree, is not acceptable on a 109 yard par 3.

At this point I was ready to drive back to the clubhouse and request a refund. As there is no way that a course this bad should charge $50 to play. I paid the same to play Chateau Elan earlier this month....there is no comparison. It didn't even feel like the same sport.

Then there was the greens that were constantly being watered. This created two major issues. First, huge pitch marks all over the greens, every putt had 2/3 in the line that had been poorly repaired. Second, with the course being so short, and wedges being h it into virtually every hole, a well struck wedge is going to spin back to the front, or off the green. While a shot h it to the green with a rock-flite that wont spin, just h its and stops. Doesnt really reward well struck shots!

Then there are the bare or rough laiden fairways. Once again, this course does not reward shots h it to the fairway, because there are spots where there is no grass in the center of the fairway. Then there are other spots where there is long roughlike grass...in the middle of the fairway.

Other posts on here say that it is well maintained. I beg to differ. There are so many courses that offer a better golfing experience, better layout, friendlier staff, and a much better maintained course that I will never play this course again.

They are killing the greens by watering them so much. maybe it's to keep their core demographic happy, feeling like they can 'stick it' from 100 yards out with their 7 iron and Rock-Flite special. I will leave it to them then.

They'd be better off making it 9 good holes that needed to be played twice than 18 bad ones.

Disappointed with Policies. Played yesterday. Nice public course, however we were very disappointed with the young kids running the starters areas. They seemed to just wanted to "hang out" and really gave no indication that we were anything other than a group of three waiting to tee off. They didn't offer to help us in any way.

During the round, on several occasions, we experienced groups of carts with teenage boys cruising around in golf carts. They did not have clubs, were making noise and were rude to the golfers paying good money to enjoy a round of golf. The kids did not speak rude, it was their actions of having no golf courtesy. They were running the carts on and off the paths, on a day when the rules were cart path only, horsing around and not caring someone was either putting or teeing off. On two separate occasions, to avoid the possibility of hitting them, we had to wait for them to clear out of the way until we could tee off, thereby causing us and the people behind us to be frustrated with the wait we all had to bear.

When we finished, we made comment to the starters about the rude kids. We were the second or third group to complain, per the starter. Their response was that this group of kids had been staying at the hotel for about three weeks for baseball tournaments and they had paid for the carts. Excuse me, but noone I know would have been able to get a cart without greens fees being paid. Plus, if that were the REAL story, where else do they think the kids would run these golf carts?

Come on City Club, lose the thought that these one timers are more important to you than us repeat customers. We are the bread and butter that supports your course. Why inconvenience us for the needs of a these spoiled kids?

Hopefully, this was a one time incident. Your golf course is nice but your thought process was lacking.

Tops for value, variety and challenge. The best maintained public course. Real variety. Challenging enough to reward repeated return visits. No pushover holes. Staff is excellent - marshalls are attentive and polite. It's fun to play. (Bring an extra ball or two for the water holes.)

3 out of 5. This is a decent course located near the Marietta square. I believe it used to be the Marietta Country Club but was sold to the city when the club moved to the Kennesaw area. I would say this course is probably more challenging than the average public golf course and is maintained better than the average public course. However, it is also a little more expensive.
