Tips for DuPre's Antique Market

Great shop lots of shopping. Can spend hours walking around and find plenty of gifts or furniture. The staff is great and friendly !! They are very attentive !! Probably not a shop for kids to be roaming around in without parental supervision, they have many small items and breakable items. This is an antique store where many things are fragile.

Extremely offended!!!!. I was visiting for the first time this past Saturday with my husband, mother in law, and 12yo daughter. After being in the store for quite a long time, my daughter was approached (by the owner?) and accused of shoplifting a small ring into her shorts' pocket. None of us were near her at the time she was approached. When we went to confront the accuser, she explained that her security officer saw my daughter continually trying on rings and then "tugging" at the bottom of her t-shirt. Never did he actually see her place anything in her pocket. My daughter was crying hysterically by this time. The woman made an attempt at a very empty apology, adding that she didn't realize my daughter was so young (as if to suggest she might shoplift if she was a bit older) and also suggested that my daughter must surely "have friends" who shoplift, so she should be able to understand the owner's position! We were so outraged. I can't help but think that this incident would never have occurred if my daughter was white and not mixed -- I definitely got that vibe. Joke was on them though -- my mother in law was about to spend over $400 on a rug when this occurred. Needless to say, we'll never cross their threshold again.

Real deal antiques for a real deal antiquing fanbase.. In Short
Taking up a big chunk of the Antique heavy Marietta Square, Dupree’s is a large consignment-style antique store specializing mostly in Civil War/Old South reminiscent antiques. There are many different rooms that snake through the space, one of which is mainly full of high-end period furniture. Not quite for the conversation piece searchers (read: the younger generation) Dupree’s attracts an older clientele of serious dealers rather than the dabbler. The atmosphere can be a little stuffy unless you show a regular face in the building, but don’t let that stop you from stopping in and seeing if you can pick out a piece for the parlor.

Marietta's largest antique gallery, and one of its best, makes for a great place to get lost on a rainy day.. The Scene
This storefront market, which has previously sold groceries, furniture and appliances, has been owned by the same entrepreneurial family for more than 100 years. The building, located just off Marietta Square, rattles and china plates shake when a train passes along the nearby tracks. But the rumble just adds to the nostalgia that fills the old building. The long series of rooms and exhibit spaces take hours to explore.

The Goods
More than 75 dealers stock vintage Americana, from Depression glass and Franciscan ware to starched linens and leather-bound books. Highlights include a collection of 19th-century wooden trunks and an extensive array of old timepieces, from tall grandfather clocks to cuckoos.
