Decatur >Bicycle South Inc
I don't think so.
I wish I could recommend this place, but I can't. The people are reasonably nice and it is locally owned. Unfortunately they do shoddy work. I took my commuter bike (I ride to work most every day) for a major "tune up" and a new wheel. When I went to pick it up, both front and rear reflectors were missing. They went back and found one and gave me another from a grab bag of assorted reflectors that they had lying around. I then noticed they had replaced my wheel with a Sharader-sized hole, abut a presta tube. Not a big deal as long as you put a rubber grommet in to take up the space, but they didn't. This is not an essential thing to do, in fact it is a little thing. It is the little things, however, that reveal the attention to detail and pride in workmanship. This place has neither.
About a week later I went to put my lock back on its bracket mount. You guessed it. The bracket that had been attached to my bike was missing. I called. They said they were very sorry and they'd call back. They never did. I called back. Same thing. They never called back; they never found the bracket. They are still looking. Yeah, right.
This is not rocket science. When you disassemble a bike (or anything) get one of those one-gallon snap lock bags and put the small stuff inside. When you put the bike back together make sure the bag is empty before you call the bike owner. Simple. This place does not care about this.
My bike is almost 20 years old. I'm not one of those spandex wearing numbskulls who go dashing around running stop signs and creating mayhem on their 15 pound composite death machines. I use my bike to get to work. I may not look like someone who gives a rat's you-know-what about bike repair, but I do. I know bikes. I know bike repair. And I know when I'm getting rotten service. Bicycle South, I'm sad to say, is bad news. It is the third shop I've gone to in the Atlanta area and the third to share the title of worst service ever. I'm beginning to think that there are no decent bike repair shops in the area.
