Editorial Review for Zyka Indian Restaurant – by Joel Lindsey
The Scene
Zyka is hidden in a stretch of car dealerships and shares a building with the Emory Montessori School, but finding it is worth the effort. You'll have to order at the counter, wait for your name to be called and bus your own table, but service is quick if you order one of the daily specials. The crowd is comprised mostly of the local Indian and Emory communities.
The Food
Some of the best Northern Indian food in the metro area lives in this unlikely setting. Ignore the styrofoam containers and dig in to creamy chicken tikka masala, tender okra and spicy cauliflower. Order plenty of fresh naan bread to sop up the juices. Raita, a usually soothing yogurt salad, is a bit too thin and heavy with onions to balance out the spicy dishes. Instead, cool your tastebuds with a pistachio kulfi, rich Indian-style ice cream that beats Baskin-Robbins any day.

Great restaurant, all those people who have posted poor reviews here don't understand indian cuisine, or the styling of this restaurant. One person stated that this restaurant was "styrofoam city" the purpose of the styrofoam its to create ease to the customers, while keeping traffic in the restaurant down. Plates are easily thrown away. Another reviewer stated that the food is very oily. That person clearly does not know that this restaurant specializes in food in the style of Hyderabad, normally hyderabadi food is oily, but this is half of the pleasure, please do not let the people who wrote negative reviews deter you from going to this GREAT indian restaurant. You Can't go there and not have the Chicken 65. IT IS A MUST, WITH NAAN.

The food is fantastic. I go there at least once a month and up to once or twice a week, and I bring guests from out of town as well as family. The preparation of the dishes is incredibly consistent so that I can count on having my favorites served the same way every time. Excellent Tandoori Chicken, excellent Chicken 65, excellent Chana Masala, excellent bread (naan and paratha) and rice dishes, and excellent Kulfi deserts (especially the Chickoo). Beyond all this, the staff will recognize you after you eat a few meals there and remember your likes and dislikes, and make special suggestions. Bottom line: this place is extremely popular and is always busy. It looks like a school cafeteria (although it recently has been updated with some nice paintings and touches of decor) and it only has counter service, so don't be surprised that it doesn't look like a typical 4-star restaurant or that the staff at the counter sometimes needs to take your order and move on. Even given all this, you'll have a great meal and a great time.
