The Scene
Melton's attracts a steady mix of regulars, neighborhood families and college students with an unpretentious atmosphere, great beer selection and mild sports bar leanings. Dim lighting and modest decibel levels make Melton's work better as a going-steady place than a first-date place. Service is functional, friendly and gimmick-free.

The Food
Melton's menu taps its audience's tastes faultlessly, combining greasy favorites with a solid list of sandwiches and a modest attempt at health-conscious food. Innovations--Buffalo chicken tenders, Irish nachos (waffle fries with the usual nacho toppings)--generally come out better than bar food nosh like the fried ravioli. Chicken and sun-dried tomato pasta in cream sauce is good, but not the star attraction. Don't miss the cheese puff basket, featuring crisp-on-the-outside, gooey-on-the-inside cheese puffs, and be sure to walk up to the bar to check out the beer specials.
