“The service and speed is average, but the prices are very good and the toppings are great tasting and fresh.”
“They have huge slices of pizza.”
Better than expected.
My companion and I wanted to try Benedetti's for some time, but we were a little put off at first by the mixed reviews. When we finally visited, it was wonderful. We both ordered seafood dishes, and while we could tell that the ingredients were previously frozen (which is par for the course in Atlanta), both of our dishes were still flavorful and distinctive. The have a large and varied menu of Italian dishes. Both of our entrees were too much for one person, especially since they bring you delicious salad and these wonderful rolls - which are like little garlicky pieces of buttery heaven. We had two baskets.
Don't come if you're on a diet.
The service was friendly, but the servers were obviously stretched a little too thin. The restaurant was cozy and well-decorated. They no longer feature live music.
Great!!. Benedetti's is romantic, the food is great and our waitress was hilarious. The staff were very lively and one could tell they enjoy working there. The menu is extensive both in food and wine. It was our first time eating there and we will be back.
Hardly Italian. This restaurant was awful. The dish that I ordered for 10+ dollars was hardly more than overdone pasta with canned tomato sauce. My friend was not content with his dish either. If you're looking for good Italian, move on to the next restaurant.
Excellent food, so-so service. We have eaten at Benedetti's many times and have never had the negative experience mentioned in a previous review. The food has always been wonderful - our favorite entree is the baked ziti and the garlic rolls are amazing. Our only complaint has been the service. Everybody there is courteous, but they seem to be understaffed at times. During busy times, sometimes the maitre'd is nowhere to be found. Overall, we love this restaurant and will continue going there, although it often takes longer to get seated, eat, and leave than it should.
Locals have flocked here for more than 30 years to get their fix of Old New York-style Italian food..
The Scene
This small but comfortable restaurant is Old Brooklyn in its ambiance, with ceiling fans, heavily framed "old masters-style" art, and operatic arias filling the air. It's a locals' favorite: Young couples hold hands across the tables, neighbors converse over pasta, and folks savor the dining values. Service is friendly, knowledgeable and able to guide patrons toward the better dishes.
The Food
Everything comes swimming in sauce. Stuffed manicotti vanishes under a blanket of fairly average marinara. Flounder francese tastes fresh despite having been frozen, and remains crisp in its pool of lemon-cream butter sauce. Veal Marsala is loaded with flavorful mushrooms, but the dish gets lost in an excess of cream sauce overpowered with Marsala. Skip the over-breaded clams oreganata in favor of the very good crispy calamari served with--what else--tomato sauce. For dessert, don't miss the cannoli.
