Best Bakery in GA
by DecaturOriginal at Citysearch
I have been a customer of this bakery since I was (6) years of age - I am now (53). I followed it from the original location in Toco Hills shopping center to its present location. I now come all the way from Alpharetta to stock up on my favorites. My all time favorites are the mocha butter cream cake and ginger bread men. The mocha butter cream cake is so creamy and rich - the cake is delcious chocolate - topped with the light mocha butter cream frosting, chocolate sprinkles and chocolate coffee beans. It combines deep chocolate flavor with not too sweet wonderful buttercream - it is just heaven. When my Mom would visit me at college this cake was the one thing I always requested from home. The ginger bread men seem like a common item - but these are perfection. They are crisp with a butter type wash and - of course - the raisins. The mini chocolate eclairs are great, too. Bottom line: whatever you take home from here - you will not be disapointed. Anyone giving this bakery a one star must be competition. It is just impossible otherwise!
Great People and Pastries

The original owner of this bakery was German but he passed away a year or so ago. I'mnot sure if it is friends or family who now run it, but they have for years as the original owner was sick. On the day he passed and on his funeral they were closed because i really needed a fritter that day and they had a sign on the door.
This is a wonderful bakery. The reviewer below who gave it one star may simply be a food snob or even perhaps a paid detractor since she/he only has one review. I've never been to Germany but I know what tastes good to me and this is it. I bought a Chocolate Cream Pie from there that was the best I've ever eaten. The meringue on top tasted like marshmallows and somehow was both light and substantial.
Finally, they have TWO DISCOUNT racks. One is for day old stuff and it is mostly half price. The other is the freezer where everything costs 1.75. It used to cost just a dollar and I found a blueberry pie in there once.
I'm only giving up this secret because I'm moving away from Atlanta and don't care if others find it now.
- Pros: Nice staff, everyone can describe everything, discount/day old items, delicious pastries
- Cons: Location (hard to tell where it is), nothing else

seriously i dont care what you call this place all i care is the cakes are the best i have had at any price !!
the pastries are very good also (we tried several) and WOW the doughnuts AWSOME!!!!
Krispy Kreme eat your heart out ! the glazed type are so light and fluffy they almost float on air.
the prices are very reasonable i would have paid twice the price for the rasberry butter cream cake i purchased.
they are kind of hidden (easy to miss) the road is small and is hard to see but it is worth the trip no matter what !
(THE ROAD IS ON THE SAME SIDE AS HOME DEPOT AND IS RIGHT BETWEEN HOME DEPOT AND NORTH DRUID HILLS ROAD) i will go there any time i get back to atlanta
- Pros: GLAZED DOUGHNUTS (YUM) AND THE CAKES + PRICES
- Cons: NONE
