Great place to go!!. I was really impressed with Cresent Moon! It really lived up to all the great reviews about it! This is a great spot for 1st dates and the prices are very reasonable. Our waiter was very hospitable. The food was awesome! I will certainly be visiting this place again!!
Great breakfast food. I love the food at this place. I recommend that you get there early on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Usually, I try to arrive before 11 a.m. and have a minimal or non-existent wait time (5 minutes). After 12 p.m., the wait seems substantial. I really love the crab and shrimp fritatta. It has never disappointed me, but I can't really say the same for the Elvis skillet eggs. Maybe eggs, potatoes, cheese, and meat in a skillet is not for me but you may like it. I found the Elvis dish to be somewhat dry, even after adding ketchup. The only downfall to this place is that I always feel rushed when I am eating. For example, servers repeatedly asking me if I'm done with my plate, bringing my bill before I even have the chance to request it, or servers who actually try to take my plate without asking if I am finished. I recognize that people are waiting, but if I have been eating for only 30 minutes, there is no reason to rush me out of my seat. Otherwise, I highly recommend this place for breakfast. No one that I have eaten with has ever been disappointed in their food selection.
Great Sunday Brunch. You should definitely try the Arnold's Eggs -- Crescent Moon's rendition of the traditional Eggs Benedict, it's served on challah bread. I'd also highly recommend the Cream Cheese Scramble (I add salmon) - well worth it. My other fave is the Heap, but be warned, the half portion is more than ample. I've also had friends say that the meatloaf & wraps are delicious, but I always eat their breakfast/brunch menu when I go. Watch out for long brunch lines on the weekends, but it moves fairly quickly.
Great Breakfast For One! Sit At The Bar! Terrific Service! Grilled Grit Cake!. I was at the Decatur Square this morning, hungry, by myself, and decided to rush into Crescent Moon. The wait was about 45min., so I just grabbed a place at the bar. Nice friendly lady at the counter, had a big "hello" and friendly smile. For me, it was all about the country ham, red-eye gravy, and the most wonderful Grilled Grit(As In Grits)Cake with Cheddar. What a wonderful combination. And I could not resist one of those wonderful whole wheat biscuits. Breakfast for one, anytime here!
Ohhhh yeah!. Looking for a romantic dinner? Quick lunch? or just some great food? Well this is the place, i give it an A++
Great Eggs Benedict!. I love breakfast food and the Arnold's Eggs here are excellent. This is their take on eggs benedict and they are served on challah bread instead of english muffins. The potatoes are great, perfectly seasoned. Every time I go there it is consistently great. The staff are friendly and fast (once you are seated).
Good breakfast.
Always a wait, but the back room has coffee and friendly crowd.
Breakfast is above average, which makes up for the slow service.
User review by mikedeazy08. My friends and I used to go to Crescent Moon every Thursday before school. We got there when it opened, so we were seated promptly. The service was usually good, as well as the food. However, the serving sizes have decreased and the prices have increased a large amount in the past year. The griddle grits were my biggest disappointment. Originally served in a large skillet, they were $1.99, now they are served in a shallow bowl. The drinks are very expensive too. Buying $2.00 Coke is rally not worth it. However, if you get to breakfast early on a weekday, you will be pleased with how quick the service is.
One of the BEST in Atlanta. i'm a longtime fan of this home-spun Decatur favorite. don't believe the few negative comments. the only time i don't recommend going is during brunch; the line's just too long. but any other time, your belly will love you for stopping here. the food is extraordinary, so flavorful and generous portions. the staff is from the area and they work their tails off and keep it all moving. i've never gotten less than a big smile and 'thanks for coming', when i visit. but it's the food, the food, the food... SUPERB, FRESH, FABULOUS.
Space-age retro decor and a killer all-day breakfast blast off in downtown Decatur..
The Scene
Full-to-bursting with Hanna-Barbera colors, unique countertop designs and gold sparkle vinyl, this small, playful restaurant is a whole lot of '50s sci-fi. Its decor features stars, moons and planets, as well as luminous clusters of multi-sized globe lamps. Better known as a weekend brunch destination, the restaurant's also becoming popular as a reliable lunch and dinner spot.
The Food
Crescent Moon thrives on the eggs-all-day routine, built out by burgers, inventive sandwiches and comfort food dinners. To-go biscuit sandwiches draw an early crowd of business folks from downtown Decatur. The basic breakfast, known as The Usual, offers two eggs, bread, meat, and grits or potatoes, and gives you energy to burn well through lunch. Other stars include innovative wraps, and specialty meal-in-one challah French toast that's worth a special trip. For weekend brunch, try Custer's last breakfast--a delicious combination of corn cakes, poached eggs and chipotle Hollandaise.
