Editorial Review for Eddie's Attic – by Alison Embrey
The Scene
A musical pilgrimage for aspiring singer-songwriters, Eddie's may resemble a crowded attic, but its coziness, combined with an excellent sound system, serves the acoustic-only performers well. While earnest artists sing their hearts out on stage, patrons sip cocktails, respectfully adhering to the "quiet listening" policy (no cell phones, smoking or loud chatter). An outside patio bar is the designated area for making noise and shooting pool.
The Draw
Having launched talent such as the Indigo Girls, John Mayer and Shawn Mullin, this music room is ripe for catching the next big thing. The all-ages 7pm show on Fridays and Saturdays serves as a warm-up for the 21-and-up crowd that strolls in for the 9pm performance. If hunger strikes, an expanded bar-food menu ranges from loaded nachos to sauteed tilapia.

We bought tickets for a show that out of town guests wanted to see. Arrived to find ourselves crammed into an incredibly small space, complete with chairs that I imagine were bought from a VFW yard sale 20 years ago. Myriad rules involved in the listening room dictates patrons behaviour there, but doesn't stop the back door from opening and closing every few seconds, allowing the smoke and noise from the adjoining room to pollute the environment. Service was terrible, even considering the fact that Atlanta (and Decatur particularly) sets a very low bar for service. But when I've paid nearly $100 for tickets to a show, should I also have to wait 17 minutes (I clocked it on my watch) for a bartender to take our order after the concert, despite the fact that there were only 5 other people there? I've lived across the globe, and I respect that Eddie's Attic resided in the same zip code as the Indigo Girls and John Mayer--and thus like to take credit for their success. But I've never seen such an awful music venue in my life, where literally everything seems to be falling apart. I half expected my foot to go through a floorboard at any moment. The owners of this establishment should be ashamed.
Pros: ????

My girlfriend and I went to the Open Mic night and had a great time. The bar is a little... well rundown to be honest, but most of the the performers were pretty good and several were great. If you are looking for something different to do, and like live music you should check it out.
Pros: Great music, local talent
Cons: a little rundown
