Editorial Review for Raging Burrito – by Michael Longshore
The Scene
Thanks to its relaxed atmosphere, reliable flavors, full bar and late-night hours, this upscale burrito joint has become a lively Decatur Square fixture. Two patios--a small sidewalk space in front and a much larger enclosed space in back--are popular in fair weather. Inside is a mix of rehabilitated brick, exposed ductwork and groovy light fixtures. Service is neighborly and good-natured, if occasionally unfocused.
The Food
A self-proclaimed "international taqueria," this souped-up burrito joint features a range of new-age specialties, like the Bangkok burrito or the Jamaican jerk, as well as quesadillas and chips, salsa and queso. It also sports a full bar, an excellent beer selection and late-night snacks at the attached Azul Blue Bar. Despite many customization options, the "Raging specialties" (chipotle BBQ, Jamaican jerk) tend to be beans-and-rice happy. The "build-your-own" option--especially the "Raging Monster"--is the best choice.

I'll admit that I don't really care for Raging Burrito. In fact, I agree with some of the other posters who complain about soggy burritos and strange crunches and flavors in the dishes. But it's popular, so leave well enough alone, I've always thought. But I have to say that I actually found it offensive, in reading many of these posts, that the owners seem to only respond to happy, positive comments. While I thought the "screaming" post in ALL CAPS was over the top, I'm actually really horrified that the owners would jump in and say something to the effect of, Oh that never happened and must have been written by a competing restaurant. (!!!!!) Rather than smile and nod at the pretty comments here, why not respond to the unhappy clients in the same fashion? The owner comments made me realize that my unhappiness in dining here previously was truly a "top-down" issue. I'm blown away by the blase attitude.
Pros: No one's making me go there
Cons: I'd prefer a different restaurant in this location

Raging burrito has my favorite tacos(baja fish is my favorite) and the best margaritas and patio in town. This is what my wife and I look for in casual dining. Great food with friendly service at a good price, The relaxed garden patio makes raging burrito a place I miss the most in atlanta(actually decatur) when I am on my regular travels for business.
Pros: festive patio, huge menu
Cons: very busy on fri nights
Response from this business
