“But it's completely worth a visit to them just for sumptuous macaroni and cheese, creamy whipped potatoes and mushroom gravy, succulent sweet potato casserole, juicy greens, and a biscuit.”
FRESH! home made, and cheap!.
This is where you go if you love to watch guy fieri's drive ins, diners and dives from food network. They make eveything here with love and it shows. I am such a foodie, without great food, there's nothing to live for.
They have traditional southern food and they are highly affordable.
Amazing Decatur Soul Food.
I absolutely love Our Way Cafe. I grew up in Decatur and my group of friends would walk there from the other side of Decatur just to get a veggie plate... I went to college down the street from Our Way, so I ate there in college too. I live downtown now, but I still drive to Decatur sometimes to get a take-out plate. I'm not big on meatloaf or pork roast. I honestly think they overcook their entrees a bit. But it's completely worth a visit to them just for sumptuous macaroni and cheese, creamy whipped potatoes and mushroom gravy, succulent sweet potato casserole, juicy greens, and a biscuit. Granted, that's like one million calories, but for three sides or a meat and two it's less than ten bucks... with a drink! Now THAT'S soul food.
Side note: It's not a formal restaurant at all. No table service.
Makes me do the happy dance!. I wish my waistline could afford to eat here every day - reminds me of visits to grandma's on the farm. Outstanding comfort food - haven't had a thing that I haven't liked. LOVE the chicken enchilada's and the creamed corn is addictive. For those that don't know, Our Way Cafe also does catering - we used them for a party and they prepared and served the most creative, tasty Asian Fusion menu. Thank you Our Way for making this world a happier place.
Bad Southen Food. I don't know what every one sees in this place. The FOOD WAS AWFUL! I had baked chicken mac and cheese and green been cas. The chicken was okay, the mac and cheese bland, and the been green cas. had a bad after taste too it. I love southern food, but this was just a very bad version. I would never go back to this place.
Good Comfort Food. I used to love Our Way...yes, the food is still great comfort food. But, when my mom was in Emory Hospital, we went to Cox Hall to eat. There's a place in the back left side that serves the SAME food as Our Way, only much cheaper! The best collards, green beans, corn bread...you name it! Try Cox Hall! Our Way's prices have gone up, but at Cox Hall, you can get it for well under $5 for a 4 veggie plate and drink, you get ALOT and it's great!
Best Creamed Corn You've Ever Tasted. This place was a staple in the diet of Agnes Scott students when it was still across the street, and after it moved, we all still followed. The meatloaf with tomato chutney, creamed corn, and sweet potatoes are not to be missed. A surprising treat is the chicken enchilada. Best value on home cooking in all of Atlanta.
Delicious Home-style cooking. Our Way Cafe is one of those little gems in your neighborhood where you go for a delicious filling meal that reminds you of childhood. Their macaroni and cheese is some of the best I've ever had. I also highly recommend the chicken enchiladas, if you're there on the right day. (really, I'm not kidding!) With their rotating menu of regular choices and specials there seems to be an unending variety of entrees and sides. And don't forget the homemade banana pudding!
It's Thanksgiving Day every day at this insider-favorite sweet tea, meat-and-three..
The Scene
This easygoing cafe puts a cheery face on an otherwise rough strip mall. The dining room divides between two large fluorescent-lit storefronts, and features picnic umbrellas, a formica-sheathed steam table and lots of country goodies, including a rusty band saw and an antique coffee can collection. Service is laid-back and friendly.
The Food
This popular cafeteria-style restaurant features a daily-changing rotation of slightly updated soul food standards. Yeast rolls, cornbread and freshly made desserts supplement the usual country-style meats and vegetables. Typical of any self-respecting soul-food joint, Our Way's veggies generally outshine the meats. Favorites include retro green bean casserole, sweet potato souffle, standout mac and cheese, and fresh blackeyed peas. Be on the lookout for meatloaf and roasted pork, as well.
good food. The veggies are great. The corn and the sweet potatoes are fantastic. Don't miss the meatloaf.
this place is the best!. This place is great!! Everything is always fresh and tasty. The chicken pot pie is amazing, the salmon loaf, it makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Try the broccoli casserole and the real mashed potatos for sides (though there are lots more great ones). I hope the Our Way is there forever!!!
