Decatur >Mellow Mushroom
“You just cannot find a better pizza anywhere than mellow mushroom - The Decatur location is probably the best run in the chain”
“The pizza is made to order and there are plenty of very fresh toppings available.”
“am not a vegetarian, but I must say that this place offers its fair share of very good sandwiches for people who don't always want meat.”
“love their pizza, but it's a little overpriced.”
I don't know when we started excepting bad customer service as the norm but I have had enough. I have been in customer service for over 20 years now and I refuse to except rudeness from a waiter or anyone else that works with the public.
It all started when we got to Mellow Mushroom and we ordered our food. It didn't take long to get it, but our waiter was aloof and too busy chatting with the other people who worked there to even notice that we needed our drinks refreshed so I asked the other waiter if he could get us a water and a coke. I never realized how much of a bother for a waiter waiting on customer could be. He took our drinks with an attitude and then slammed them down onto the table and walked away.
My husband and I at that point finished our lunch and I asked for the check from our waiter who then took 10 minutes to get the check and my credit card back to me.
I use to go here once a week for lunch and believe when I say "use to" is now the NORM for me when it comes to this restaurant.
Advice to waiter and all people who work with the public..check your attitude at the door, Keep your home life home and do your job, which is all about having customers come back so that you have a paycheck.
Oh and one more thing the only reason I did not have a FIT in the restaurant was because one of my customers from my job had just gotten there and I was not about to ruin his lunch and make him think that it was the NORM for me to be a difficult customer.
Not Worth It. Just left after waiting 35 minutes for a simple take out order of two subs. After being told it would be 10 min. more (after 15 min.), it was 20+. Then got attitude from the girl behind the counter telling me it was my fault, basically, for not calling it in. Been going here for over 15 years off and on and always hesitate based on how slow they are (with everything from bringing a menu to filling the order). After tonight, I'm done.
Tasty pies come with a side of '70s nostalgia at these spruced-up college town pizzerias..
With satellite locations in big-time university towns like Chapel Hill and Athens, this popular Atlanta chain knows what makes a college pizzeria. Newer strip mall locations aside, staple fixtures include good music, servers in Jane's Addiction T-shirts, psychedelic painted cinder blocks and bumper sticker-covered beer coolers. A product of the '70s, this reliable pizzeria prjects an unflappable Deadhead psychedelics-n'-health-food ethos. This amounts to lots of "shroom" references, "spring water dough" (enriched with vitamin E), plus tofu as a pizza topping and sprouts on all the hoagies. Pies are high quality and the crust--dense but crisp--is distinctive. Specialties, including the Gourmet White pie (sun-dried tomatoes, onions, feta and provolone cheeses) and the Mighty Meaty (hamburger, bacon, pepperoni, ham and sausage) are top-notch. Salads and sandwiches are college-food good, making a nice variation if you dine here often.
More than the pizza.... I am not a vegetarian, but I must say that this place offers its fair share of very good sandwiches for people who don't always want meat. Try the Tofu Hoagie, a very well designed sandwich with some interesting tastes. There's also the Avocado Hoagie, another well executed idea. And finally a Portabello Hoagie is also available. Oh, and if you get tired of those filling and tasty sandwiches, this place does serve pizza too.
FINEST PIZZA ON EARTH.
