Not as good as before.... Gilbert's has lost a lot. Not sure what changed, but the food was far from what it used to be. Just not very good. Service was great, and that makes up for part of the aggravation caused by the poor quality of the meal. I'm not planning on returning any time soon.

very homey place. the atmosphere here is very homey and I love the food. However, the last time I was there it took a really long time to get served.The place was about half full, but the starters took more than 10 minutes to come out. the steak was fabulous. will definitely be back

Great atmosphere, incredible food. The food at gilberts is incredible!! The pork, the steak, the fish and the soups!!! I feel so comfortable here as well which is a credit to Sean and Gilbert for making a place that welcomes and appreciates their customers.

Consistent quality of food and service.. A meal at Gilbert's is a refreshing, pleasant and tasteful experience. Whether eating the appetizers or the delicious main courses, each dish is ample, savoury and sure to please. This restaurant presents food in a well-prepared manner, without pretension, and always with fresh and delicious tastes. The meat loins are superb, as well as the more tradtional Mediterranean dishes. Tiramisu here is a special treat, also. Gilbert's can be counted on to provide a good dining experience in an unassuming but pleasant atmosphere and a place where good, reasonably priced food will be served to you by a gractious and knowledgeable wait staff.

Great everything. I love this little cafe! Great drinks, great food and Great service. The menue is very nice especially for to. Allowing you to mix and match iteam and share.

A Lunch For All Seasons. It took us two years talking about how we should try out Gilbert's. Eventually we did, celebrating my better half's birthday.

The only thing we regretted was that we waited so long (she blamed me, of course).

We now consider ourselves (newbie) regulars. The food is excellent and the service is friendly, which is perfect for a neighborhood restaurant.

One of my favourite places to dine. Have celebrated both mine and my partners birthday here for the last 4 years. In addition we are frequent patrons for a quick drink before heading over to Blake's, Flying Biscuit, Nickiemoto's or Zocalo. Eventually we always end up back here at Gilberts to have our final drink(s) of the evening. Great place, great atmosphere, great all around.

Happening Place. The food is good and very reasonably priced. The specials are usually over the top. It's a small place so you might have to wait at times for a table. It's trendy and full of life at nights. It turns into a bar atmosphere after 10 pm or so. DJ?s on some nights. They don't have a patio, but have a large window (glass garage door) that opens which gives that outdoor feel if you are in the bar area. It can be very romantic or a great place to go with friends. Clientele is probably 99% gay and most are under 40. Older people who have a problem with the gay scene would probably be uncomfortable here.
