“The food is great, cheap and the service is friendly.”
Cheap Drinks and Good Food. Try the mini-burritos, they're fantastic! At about 3 bucks apiece, you can eat until you pop and still save money. The queso dip is pretty tasty too!!
Great food at a reasonable price. Try the mini burritos, they're fantastic!!
Killer Tacos, Great Vibe. The Taco Stand has been a favorite of my family's for many years. I used to enjoy the Taco Stand in Athens, but now that we live in Atlanta we take the kids and enjoy some of the freshest mexican food in town. The Taco Stand is still a great happy hour spot, too.
Awful Service.
We are not picky and love Mexican food however we do expect a certain level of service when going to a restaurant. I think the turnover must be really bad here because we have never seen the same staff except for management. I honestly think the management is the problem. We have tried this place 4 times and while the food and drinks are good... we have never gotten our order to come in a timely manner nor has it ever been right! On our last trip, we ordered something which came out wrong. The manager came over and apologized and we got our new order within in minutes. We were very nice until both orders appeared on our bill!! They would not credit us back for the wrong order and said it was our fault for not ordering correctly. Even it if it was our fault- can you imagine not crediting us back for 3 tacos at $3/piece when we had 5 top shelf drinks totally $50? I waited tables for 7 years and am very patient at restaurants and know how customers can be... this is just ridiculous. We honestly thought a hidden camera was going to come out after our last visit... just pathetic. We left and told the manager to please ask someone else in the business for advice on our situation after we left- it was so sad.
Needless to say that we won't be back, there are just too many other options in Atlanta. I don't expect they will be in business much longer unless they learn to treat their customers better.
Great cheap food and beer!. I love going to the Taco Stand for cheap and easy food. Their fish tacos are one of my favorites! And their queso dip is excellent!
Average tex-mex. The Taco Stand has solid but uninspired tex-mex food. If I'm really in the mood for a taco or burrito, I'll stop by since it's near my office, but I wouldn't make a special trip. Jalisco (on Peachtree at Peachtree Battle) is a far better option for truly good Mexican food at the same price point.
Cheap Beer. I went to TS w/ my bf & his friend the other night and tried one of their tofu tacos. It was so hard & tough it felt like I was chewing fried chicken fat. I have heard their other stuff is good so I'll give them another try if anyone I'm with wants to go, but I doubt I'll make a special trip myself. My bf did comment on how cheap the bill was considering the amount of beer they had to drink. I've been to the Mexican restaurant up the road closer to W Paces Ferry and it was really good so I'd go there for dinner, then TS for drinks.
Layed back.... Super layed back watering hole that has great food and atmoshere. The margarita's are horrible but the fish tacos are great...as well as the fried chicken ones. The bartenders are always super friendly.
Good food, fair prices, live music. You gotta love the Taco Stand. It's in the middle of Buckhead, but not any fluff. The tacos are really good, and the prices are really low. What a great combination. Good place to grab a beer with friends and watch live music on the patio. My only con would be that I'm a Techie and it is a UGA spot for sure...but I can look past ugly red bulldog posters when I've got a cold beer in my hand and tacos in my mouth!
Reminds me of Athens!. I love it hear mostly because it reminds me of my days at the University of Georgia when I used to walk to the one downtown athens from North Campus...great times! Good cheap food. Love the cheese dip and the salsa.
