Kool Korners is coming back !. Kool Korners is opening again in the same location! The old building was demolished and is being replaced by a newly constructed building. They just put up a HUGE Kool Korners sign on the construction site!!!! I hope the sandwiches will be the same!!!
Good bye. If you never had the chance to experience you have definitely missed out on one of Atlanta's hidden treasures. I was stunned to hear of its closing. In the days of fast food, fast service, and fast attitudes this place was an island in a sea of confusion. The Cubans are (were) fantastic! The service was great! People were friendly as if they came from your hometown. I am going to miss Kool Korners. Please, if there is any chance of opening elsewhere, lets not keep it a secret. Thank you Kool Korners for your service to our community. God Speed.
I am very sad that this place is closed.
I just got off the phone today 7/23/08 at 11:45 am with the owner, and he sadly told me that Kook Korners will be closed for good. Of all the years at Georgia Tech and even after college, every opportunity I got to pass 14th street, I would always buy 5 originals, and take them back home with me and even share with my friends. This place will be missed. Thank you for all the years of fantastic Cuban Sandwiches that I will cherish throughout my lifetime.
On a side note, the owner did mention that he will be looking elsewhere for a possible new location to open in the future. Lets keep our fingers crossed...
Return of the Kool.
Is it possible that one sandwich could have the unilateral control to satisfy your particular and sometimes picky taste-buds? Is there such an existing sandwich that can send you off into quantum leaps with just one bite?
Well if you?re the adventurous type when it comes to challenging your spice tolerance, ?Kool Korners? is the place for you.
Conveniently located midtown on 14th street/State, just on the outskirts of Georgia Tech University, ?Korners? is a Cuban sandwich shop dedicated to serve your lunch-time needs from 10:30am-4:00 pm.
My favorite sandwich is the classic, which features an excellent combination of ham, roast beef/pork, cheese, jalapeno peppers and their vintage special Cuban sauce complemented with fresh oven-toasted bread.
Every time I come into the unassuming white store, I instantly hear Sergion Mendes? song ?pais tropical? to set the tone. And with that first bite I can live vicariously through a sandwich and pretend I?m in Cuba on vacation. Believe me, it?s not just lunch: it?s an experience!
Great Sandwiches, LOW price. I'm not cuban, I've never been to cuba, heck, I've never been to Miami. I'm not the one who can tell you if this is THE authentic cuban sandwich or not. But I've never been one to get upset about authenticity. Is it tasty? This is one darn tasty sandwich. Order the classic and get there at lunch time when they're making them fresh. If you're driving down 14th street in the morning, roll down your window and you'll smell the pork roasting. This is good stuff, one can only hope they can keep from getting pushed out of their location by all the development in the area.
What Is A Cuban Sandwich?.
If one makes a hamburger and add your favorite spices & fixings what would you call it? A hamburger. Well, If you ask me, a Cuban Sandwich is a Cuban Sandwich. Period! It matters not if it has peppers, onions, etc..., Its a Cuban Sandwich! And the Cuban Sandwiches at Kool Korners are The Best Cuban Sandwiches I have ever consumed!!!
You can't doubt that!!!
World's Greatest Sandwich. All this talk about "authentic"...Go to Cuba and order a Cuban sandwich. You'll get dry, stale bread, a couple slices of meat and a slice of cheese. Served cold. Authentic or not, Kool Corner's version of the Cuban is the best sandwich I've ever had.
fantastic!.
They make some of the best sandwiches in town.
WHO CARES about "authentic"? That's not what it's about!
Do you like your food?
Then shut up!
Pretty Good. My husband is Cuban so he is pretty picky. We both had a traditional cuban without onions and peppers. It was good but I can't say it was 100% authentic (they put lettuce & tomato and onions & peppers on the sandwiches). The owner is Cuban and very nice. We will definately go back.
