East Atlanta
East Atlanta hosts an excellent farmers market in the spring through early winter at the intersection of Flat Shoals & May. Fresh produce, pastries and ready to eat food can be purchased every Thursday afternoon from 4-7
Quirky little neighborhood that might be the next Virginia-Highland..
The Scene
"Is this the right place?" you wonder as you drive past a run-down convenience store with bars over its windows. And then suddenly a quaint (if a bit shabby) community opens up before you. At the heart of East Atlanta is the Village, a strip of quirky boutiques and secondhand shops, mixed with bars, lounges and live music clubs. The locals--indie music lovers, hipsters who live in nearby lofts--wouldn't think of hanging out anyplace else.
The Bars
For a small neighborhood, the choices are pretty varied. Scenesters congregate at the Fountainhead to discuss philosophy and art ... or just look cool sipping martinis (a low-key alternative: the Flatiron). Circuit boys abandon Midtown to sing along to Cher videos at Mary's. Slacker types sip lattes at Sacred Grounds, or Guinness at Gravity Pub. Between the Earl and Echo Lounge, you can hear a band just about every night of the week.
