Toadies Editorial Review
The Skinny
The powerful show at South by Southwest 2001 by this Fort Worth-based band generated quite a buzz. That's not surprising for a foursome that cut its teeth on the Dallas club scene. Founder, vocalist and songwriter Todd Lewis formed the band in 1989. After releasing their first album on a small independent label, the Toadies caught the attention of Interscope, which released sophomore attempt "Rubberneck." That CD produced the hit single "Possum Kingdom" and set the Toadies on tour opening for established bands also known for their live shows and rebellious tendencies: Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Butthole Surfers, the Rev. Horton Heat and the Supersuckers. After some time off and minor personnel changes, the Toadies are back with more attitude than ever.
The Crowd
