Atlanta >Agave Restaurant
“From the service, to presentation, to wine selection, to menu, to atmosphere, this place was the perfect place to dine for my birthday.”
“Next was dessert, we took the waiters suggestion and ordered the banana cheese cake, which was a wonderful end to a great meal.”
“believe that a good chef would know either how to pair wine properly with food or hire someone who knows what they are doing.”
“One word of warning - though the chips and salsa are tasty, you'll regret filling up on them once your meal arrives.”
“The bar is also great with many options for tequila, wine and margaritas- not weak pours either.”
“Agave is a great restaurant with many tasty options on the menu.”
“have been twice and will continue to go back and tout this place as my favorite restaurant in Atlanta!”
“Best service, best fried chicken, best margarita!”
“This place just isn't that great and it was pretty expensive.”
“Aside from the amazing food at reasonable prices, the service was the best we've had in a long time and maybe have ever had.”
This is my favorite place in Atlanta. The food is always fresh, flavorful and perfectly prepared. The servers are friendly and helpful and they coordinate closely with the chef to make sure that everything is perfect (the servers will even provide suggestions for the best drinks). Every meal I've had here has been wonderful.
Agave is a great place for dining alone, bringing a date or sharing a perfect meal with friends and family (hint - make reservations if you're bringing a crowd).
Go to Agave and have a wonderful night!
Best Southwestern Cuisine in town.
I've been going to Agave for going on 7 yrs. It's my fav place to go whether it's by myself (often) or on a date. The staff is always very knowledeable whether it's about the 100 different kinds of Tequila or their wide assortment of wines.
The restaurant uses the highest quality no hormone beef and chicken! No wonder it tastes sooo yummy.
And from what I know they don't use microwaves or freezers. Everything is fresh..
Do yourself a favor and go. Atlanta is lucky!
A long time favorite.
I've been going here for a couple of years and so far I've always really enjoyed it. This restaurant has a menu to suit a wide range of palettes and it's basically a short drive from about anywhere downtown so it's been a good spot to meet up with friends. My favorite appetizers are the ceviche martini and the chicken quesadilla, both of which are big enough to be a meal! I am also a huge fan of their fried chicken and the salmon filet.
Another recent review talked about smelling cigarette smoke which had me confused because Agave is a non-smoking restaurant. I have severe asthma and allergies and am highly bothered by the smell of cigarette smoke. I've eaten at Agave many times and sat at the bar, on the patio, in both dining rooms, and even up in the loft when my wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary. I've never smelled smoke in there ever.
As far as drinks, I'm not really a big tequila drinker but the huge selection of tequilas has enticed me to try a few of their margaritas and I've yet to be disappointed. Overall I'd definitely recommend this as a good meeting place before a game or event - just make sure you call ahead to let them know you're coming just in case there's a wait!
Smoking, Really?. Food is delightful and the service is friendly and tip-top. That's the good. I came in on a friday night and was kindly greeted and sat quickly at a nice table (so I thought) upstairs. While I was eating, I saw the host go into what I think was the office and soon after I distinctly smelled heavy cigarette smoke coming from that door. Then he left to go back to the front door. It took a while for the smoke to subside, but my meal was already disturbed. Then the chef went in the same room upstairs and again the place stunk up with cigarette smoke through the whole upstairs area. We cut it short and left quickly after that due to our meal being completely ruined at that point. We even smelled the cigarettes downstairs near the kitchen when we were exiting. On our way out, we saw the tall thin girl who sat us talking to the bartender near the front door. I decided to ask the her who the host was and she said he was the manager partner. It surprised me that being in such a position he would brake the law and smoke with customers eating right next to his office. So, I pointed the other taller man out in the chef outfit and asked who he was. She said that he is the owner. I couldn't believe it, so I asked if they always smoke in that room upstairs. She shrugged a yes with no verbal comment, but the bartender rolled her eyes and answered, yes all the time. That says it all. Don't eat there if breathing cigarette smoke will ruin your meal like it did ours. What a shame with everything else being so enjoyable otherwise.
best food, best chef, best service!.
this is the absolute best place for escaping the banality of the dreary world. the atmosphere is laid back, comfortable and welcoming. the staff are genuinely sweet, attentive and they strive to ensure you have a wonderful experience.
i'm addicted to the white bean soup...it's "to die for" yummy.
all the food is fresh and prepared perfectly. i've never been disappointed. and, the servings are large (for me) so i always have left-overs for the next day. i've had left-over scallops and enchiladas for breakfast (yes, they are that good!).
it's also a great place to bring family, out of town guests or someone special.
this is my favorite restaurant!
Still one of Atlanta's best restaurants.
I've been dining at Agave for 8 years, and it has consistently proven itself as one of my favorite places to eat anywhere. The food quality is outstanding and the service is always friendly and attentive. The ambiance adds to the enjoyment of the meal; the dark tones and southwestern artifacts adorning the walls complement the fireplace nicely in the second dining room. The main dining room and bar area is always full of energy and lively with a small loft area above the dining area for small private groups.
I eat there at least once/month on average, and have never been let down. If there is ever a problem with the food (which essentially never happens), they are more than accommodating with a replacement. I've seen them bend over backwards to serve guests, and it's always done with a smile.
Food selections range from their signature Agave Cayenne Fried Chicken (always a favorite for new patrons) to succulent Tenderloin Medallions and the hearty Pork Shank. Many of the dishes are quite spicy so it's a good idea to ask the server if you have any aversion to certain spices. Otherwise if you like your meals with a kick, you can't go wrong. Particularly noteworthy for their spicy flavors are the Green Chile Stew and also the Crawfish Pasta.
The Margaritas are some of the best you'll taste anywhere and are definitely my favorite in Atlanta. The Herradura Estate Top Shelf has been a mainstay for me the entire 8 years I've been dining there. Simply delicious. And for after dinner, there is an incredible selection of fine tequilas for sipping along with dessert. The Belgian Chocolate Mousse is my personal favorite, although the Spicy Peanut Butter Pie is a close second.
You really can't go wrong here. Definitely one of Atlanta's best!
I LOVE this place! The bar is beautiful, the staff is helpful and knowledgeable, the chef is brilliant and his creations are delicious!
For me, the best part of this time of year (when the weather cools down) is being able to indulge in the white bean soup with Navajo fry bread sticks (so yummy~) with a wonderful Corzo Perfecto margarita.
Okay - I know where I'm going for dinner tonight!
Unassuming Elegance - This is the BEST place ever!.
This lovely little restaurant has world-class cuisine at unmatched prices. The spices are layered with expert precision (though if you desire more heat, you have only to ask). The food is the freshest you will find anywhere. The tequila bar boasts an extensive and exceptional selection (with bartenders who know their products well).
My favorites are the spicy tequila shrimp and the chile seared halibut, though everything I've tried has been delicious. I haven't tried the vegetarian menu yet, but I intend to soon.
I love the "feel" of this place. It's so easy to set aside the pressures of the work day and relax here. The layout and the artwork are more than inviting.
Reservations are recommended and you can either call or set up a reservation online. Even so, I've dropped in and been seated timely.
One word of warning - though the chips and salsa are tasty, you'll regret filling up on them once your meal arrives.
the absolute BEST!.
My experiences at this restaurant have always been outstanding. I am consistently impressed by the food and the service. This is one of those rare places in which you feel the staff truly cares and will go out of their way to ensure that you have a wonderful night. It is a lost art in today's world and I'm truly grateful for their dedication and professionalism.
Every item I've had has been flavorful, fresh and completely satisfying (note - the portions are rather large so I always get dessert "to go" to enjoy later at home).
I'm truly addicted to the white bean soup. When I'm not feeling well, I actually dream about it (yes, it IS that great)! The seared tuna is wonderful, the scallops always perfectly prepared and I've never had seafood that tasted so fresh. The cayenne fried chicken and (this world's best) mashed potatoes is the ultimate comfort food and the grilled vegetable plate is the absolute best way to feel like you're eating healthy while indulging in decadence! The spices are masterfully blended so each bite has layers of flavor.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone who enjoys incredible food and genuinely friendly service - it is the absolute BEST!
(you can't beat the prices either!)
Very disappointing. After reading lots of wonderful reviews, I expected a great meal at Agave with lots of spice and flavor; I received neither. I ordered the tomato, avocado, and basil salad, and the "spicy ranch drizzle" tasted like watered down Hidden Valley ranch. The citrus vinaigrette was pretty flavorless. I expected more than 4 thin slices of avocado, too. For my entree, I ordered the appetizer portion of the Guajillo mussels, which were supposed to come in a "signature red chile citrus wine broth with fresh basil... and lime." Though the broth was red, it wasn't flavorful, and I did not taste any lime. I would not return.
