The Scene
A tiny open kitchen, a tinier bar and rows of dark, heavily varnished tables are all comfortably squeezed into this attractive shotgun space near the Cotton Mill lofts. Distressed support beams and rough, exposed brick combine with the usual assortment of Navajo artifacts and small Southwestern-themed prints to create a space that's inviting and warm. Service is attentive and extremely friendly.
The Food
Familiar and upscale Southwestern dishes mostly succeed at this popular Cabbagetown spot. Highlights include tasty shredded pork tacos, comforting cayenne fried chicken and rich, spicy posole (Mexican hominy stew). Crawfish Diablo pasta--a generous helping of crawfish with linguine in a mellow chili-cream sauce--is also a big winner. Shrimp and tuna seviche gets a nice kick from its lime and cider vinegar marinade. For dessert, rich chocolate mousse hits the spot.

The best southwestern experience in Atlanta/southeast.... not sure which was better food or service....if Agave was closer it would be a weekly stop.......you won't find a better selection of tequilla's and no one compete's with the margarita's......if you have not been it's your loss... truly one of Atlanta's best.

In most cases, a Good or Poor review usually starts with the meal. However, from the moment my party entered Agave for dinner this past Friday night, the Host left a very bad taste on the pallet. We had reservations for 8:30pm, we arrived at 8:20. The Host greeted us, confirmed our reservation and asked us to wait. This was expected and acceptable. However, after several other parties arrived after us, a small crowd gathered at the entrance. Within minutes, the Host greeted some personal friends/family of his and IMMEDIATELY seated them. Those of us waiting to be seated, were very offended by this. Once we were seated, the waitstaff was very attentive. I can't remember the fancy menu name for the meal I ordered...but basically we paid $15 for a Fried Chicken breast, spoonful of Mashed Potatoes and Corn-on-the-Cob, which was heavily scorched. I thought I was the only person that was not pleased by the meal. However, while waiting on the Valet, another party also mentioned how unpleasant their visit was. They too, also noticed the Host seating his personal friends immediately, while asking others guests to wait. ....Just in case your wondering how we knew these were his personal friends/family...it's because I asked. He did not deny that fact that, Yes, he did give his friends/family personal preference. I can only hope that the Restaurant owner can depend on the personal friends/family of his Host staff to sustain his restaurant in the future, because that was our last visit to the Agave.

Yum Yum Yummy I got Agave food in my tummy. Agave is alright with me....a fresh, fun, upscale southwestern menu, if you go in the Winter be sure to sit by the warm and cozy fireplace, it's a sure winner. My favorite dish, Pan Seared Chilean Salmon over a roasted red pepper sauce...to die for! The wait staff is very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. One of Atlanta's finest Southwestern restaurants. • Pros: Best Service, Attentive Staff • Overall user rating: Recommended
