Sassy is fun when you have a sense of humor.. Frank210290 obviously doesnt have a sense of humor and has an awful warddrobe because every time I have been in the Hand I have had the time of my life. And sassy little Vanessa is fun. Learn how to take a joke dude.

Too sassy for her own good?. So I had just moved to the Highlands and I had been to Hand in Hand a couple of nights for their trivia (Wednesday night). I walk in after a football game wearing my team's jersey and when I walked up to the bar, the waitress, Vanessa said "Zip up your coat or get out." I knew she was joking, so I hung around a minute and had a beer. When I tried to explain that she was making me uncomfortable, she was entirely aloof. Her point was that because her regulars know and like her I was being irrational for having a problem. I pretty much begged her to give me a reason to come back to that bar ever again, but she was too cool (self-indulgent) to make any efforts to make peace with me. There are plenty of bars in the neighborhood, so I ordered a shot from the other bartender, tipped him well and left, never to return again.

Good single crowd. The laid-back atmophere is something that is very appealing about this place - I can go wearing a t-shirt and jeans and still look dressed up - awesome place to hangout on Fridays - very busy and good drink menu

incorrect charge. I recently went to Hand and Hand, after running a tab with the bar a few days later a charge was shown on my card for more than the original amount. The strange part about htis is the fact that I had PAID IN CASH, after speaking with the bar, corporate and the District Manager nothing has been done about this matter, since that point. I suggest that if you do attend that you make sure not to run a tab with ur card if you plan on paying with cash, to prevent any problems in the future.

Prices are to high and portions are too small. Hand in Hand - I like the atmosphere but your manager/ owner should get out and have lunch around VH area and see what your competiors are serving up. I order out everyday for our company and for the money and especially during the lunch hour your prices are too high and the portions are embarrassingly small. My clients do not want me to order from your restaurant because they say they are still hungry even when they have had a full entree. If I had the meal suggested on your website for lunch I would have spent about $25 bucks on the food alone and that's without the pint or two I normally would order if I was going to dine in. I don't mind paying for quality food but most places near by are able to serve quality food, reasonable portions and still keep the price afforable.

don't bring high expectations. i know Wednesday night is probably not the best to use as a judge of a place so I'll try to keep this somewhat nice. The place was pretty empty but being in a high traffic area, parking was a bit of a hassle. I was excited to be at a bar that offers a good number of imports and allowed that and the classic seal signage to persuade me into ordering a 5.25 pint o' Guinness. I wouldn't have minded the price if the beer had been poured properly- not dripping down the sides and over a quarter foam when it was placed in my hand. We didn't stay for food, but it looked like slightly gourmet versions of traditional pub fare with basics mixed in. Overall, I think the place tries too hard to be upper brow and falls short of its goal.

it's not a bar its a meat market. Our server was Judy, she was delightful and very prompt with her service. If you go, ask for her.

I was not overall impressed by the establishment itself.

It's very impersonal, dark and crowded with the va-hi kids that are toolin' around with mom and dads credit card.

it just got on my nerves.

p.s. someone told me that drinks should always be ordered from the bartender. Otherwise, You pay for top-shelf and get the cheap stuff instead

Authentic pub in VH. Great food, good beer selection, super-friendly staff, with free wi-fi to boot. This pub would be at home in England. Parking's not difficult, but cars outnumber patrons. Might be more difficult on the weekend. Great place for a business lunch.

Ye olde English pub goes the way of the VaHi bar crowd.. In Short
Hand in Hand is certainly has its upsides. The cozy interior and comfort-food menu provide a luring option for a cold winter day, while the spacious brick patio is a choice spot on a summer afternoon. Drinks are affordable and the Virginia Highland location is perfect. However, this winning formula unfortunately results in an all-to-cramped weekend mess, like the Athens you wanted to forget. Newly-minted grads and VaHi's crop of over-30 singletons chase tail and slam Jager bombs in rock star speed. British staples like bangers and mash, or heavy pints of Boddington's keep the English hope alive, but get lost in the art of hard-partying.

best pint in town. This pub has the best pint in town. I can't wait until the spring for the patio to open then I can get a seat at the bar.

This pub has the cleanest toilet in the area. A great place to shake hands with the unemployed!

Valet the lot!!!
