In Short – Hand in Hand is certainly has its upsides. The cozy interior and comfort-food menu provide a luring option for a cold winter day, while the spacious brick patio is a choice spot on a summer afternoon. Drinks are affordable and the Virginia Highland location is perfect. However, this winning formula unfortunately results in an all-to-cramped weekend mess, like the Athens you wanted to forget. Newly-minted grads and VaHi's crop of over-30 singletons chase tail and slam Jager bombs in rock star speed. British staples like bangers and mash, or heavy pints of Boddington's keep the…

  1. Hand in Hand - I like the atmosphere but your manager/ owner should get out and have lunch around VH area and see what your competiors are serving up.
  2. Live music, and the people watching was fun.
  3. Ok, so times are tight and I am on a budget, but that doesn't mean I don't like to have some fun.
  4. Great staff, comfortable setting
  5. And sassy little Vanessa is fun.
  6. Parking in the lot is impossible, so street parking or walking is your best bet.
  7. The scene was 25-35, good looking professionals and it was fun.
  8. Sure there are other places I could go, but I choose to return to Hand because of the comfortable setting and the good food, especially the Pub Burger and the Tobasco Pecans.
  9. Sassy is fun when you have a sense of humor.

  5. The laid-back atmophere is something that is very appealing about this place - I can go wearing a t-shirt and jeans and still look dressed up - awesome place to hangout on Fridays - very busy and good drink menu

Watch your Bill !!!!!

by chocolateforever

Very disappointed with the food, menu and the service and then the server slipped a 25% service charge on my bill. VERY Dishonest I feel cheated the server Candance was surely less than a bucket of smiles, not friendly at all. If your looking for a great place to have lunch THIS IS NOT IT ...... DONT WASTE YOUR TIME !!!!!!

by jackgott

Filthy ! Mice running in and out, under the tables. The food is horrible (brown soggy lettuce anyone?) Watch your bill ! The "server" slid in a "service charge" for a 24%....and when I asked about it she screamed at me......gee...classy...

okay food

by paul092

They offer great specials on the weekends, but if you hate crowds, then go on a weekday when it is quieter. There are also specials on weekdays, so you can get that and avoid all the jostling and shoving.

Need Better Specials and some Soccer on the Tub

by knifinke

Prices are decent, but we only go now for the specials. If there aren't specials, its not worth going.

Some of the food the awesome (Onion Rings, Fish and Chips, Fish Tacos) some of it is horrible (Fried Mushrooms).

Worst part is, for a English Pub, they don't have a soccer package. Just shows its just a normal bar claiming to be a Pub.

  • Pros: $1 Sundays, Great Patio,
  • Cons: No Soccer TV Package

Stick with Happy Hour, Avoid the Crowded Weekends

by ryansims

Hand in Hand is one of a handful of Va-Hi bars most locals tend to avoid on the weekends. Hundreds of non-residents park the narrow streets and trek to this Brit-lovin bar serving up pints of Bud Light and shots of Jager from a massive four sided bar. Elbow room is not to be expected during prime hours, and bartenders have been known to, er, inflate prices to the intoxicated... (more than one occasion, folks). During the week however, great happy hour deals and drink specials abound. On a sunny day, the patio can't be beat to throw down a pitcher with friends.

  • Pros: A great brick patio for outdoor imbibing
  • Cons: Dodgy drink prices, super-crowded weekends
