What People Are Saying About OPERA

Featured Review

In short – With a nod to its historic roots as a 1920s Opera House, the former Crescent Avenue hot spot 1150 unloaded $2 million to renovate and relaunch as Opera. From the staff to singletons, beautiful people pack this midtown mega club and shake it to the sounds of a variety of weekend DJs. The authentic stage, 100-foot domed ceiling and VIP mezzanine opera boxes make it a classy place to let loose over the weekend.

Editor's Tips

Look Good:
Mezzanine VIP areas come with personal cocktail service and serpentine bed-style seating.
Save Money:
Get in the door before midnight and avoid the cover charge on the weekends.
Parking:
Parking can be tricky at times, but there are two Marta stops within walking distance--Arts Center and Midtown stations
Where to Sit:
Hit the Cabana Lounge outside for a little lack of chaos.

  1. The atmosphere was great but we found the staff to be rude and pretentious.
  2. The staff is polite and quick, and the atmosphere alone is worth going for.
  3. Nice big dance floor, unique decor, and great patio, but overall I give it overpriced and overrated.
  4. Inside atmosphere is nice
  5. It use to be fun, but the service sucks, and you pay too much for the lame dj's that show up (excluding sasha of course) but really -go to leapord lounge or anywhere else.
  6. The club atmosphere is awesome but the people that work there make it so not worth going in.
  7. Take my word for it: If you like good dance music with a comfortable, clean, sociable environment - this is bar far the best that Atlanta has to offer (try the others and you'll see that I'm right.)
  8. It had great music and an equally kickin atmosphere.
  9. The atmosphere is incredible and the entertainment is crazy.
  10. Easy location, cool decor, fun performers.
  11. Where else will you find a great atmosphere, superior service, and big name DJs?
  12. People who suffer from See-and-be-Seen syndrome like it here, and they are fun to watch.
  13. Great atmosphere, awesome dance floor, lots of security, overally a pretty cool place but be prepared to spend alot of money.

  1. The service was good and the drinks started at $3 for a domestic bottle and neither compared to the poor service and outragious prices found in bars around the Highlands and Buckhead (which never have worthwhile entertainment).
  2. The music and the outdoor bar is good, but the place seems rundown and too dark.
  3. Most importantly, I felt the bartenders were friendly and poured good drinks.
  4. The bar staff was nice, but the door guys and inside security were kind of rude.
  5. will keep going to this club because it has great events, friendly and good looking staff, and good drinks!
  6. Expensive drinks but hey, its Atlanta.
  7. THis place is great if your a girl, meaning you dont have to pay for drinks.
  8. Take my word for it: If you like good dance music with a comfortable, clean, sociable environment - this is bar far the best that Atlanta has to offer (try the others and you'll see that I'm right.)
  9. While the doorman can be too full of themselves, once you get inside, service at the bar is great.
  10. great patio with a live dj, a gallery with different types of art and a laid back lounge area, a VIP bar in a balcony that actually feels like a VIP area(so long roped-off excuses for VIP), and a great main area for dancing.
  11. The drinks are overpriced, watered down.
  12. He makes a tasty drink and is very fast behind the bar.
  13. (This bouncers name was John) Also, before all of this happened when we were at the bar, the bartenders were very rude and didnt know if they had the kind of vodka I wanted or not.
  14. Great people, great staff, great music, and great drinks!
  15. terrible drinks
  16. poor music, hospitality, drink selection

"A Night At The Opera"

by jasonlgreene

No, I'm not talking about the classic Marx Brother's film. I'm talking aabout the hottest night spot in Midtown, or Atlanta, just period.

Many of us native Atlantan's have seen the party scene change over the years, from the Limelight of the 80's(My personal all-time fave), to Peter Gatien's first club at this 1150 Peachtree location. And of course in later years, Club 1150. History abounds in Midtown, in the rear of the Histerical, I mean Historical Atlanta Women's Club structure.

What was once an elaborate 1929's theater, now stands Opera, in all it's high tech glory. The domed 20ft. ceiling, the private opera boxes, the detailed ornamentation, to the super hot sounds from some of the best DJ's in the country. Classic, but very hip. It's def the place to be.

Atlanta's diversity abounds at Opera. Nearby hotel guest from the Four Season's, Palomare, and the new Lowe's, are just a walk away , into Atlanta's most sophisticated club. Masterful Farhang Milani, keeps the club goers in the know, about all the special events, going on every night. Dress to impress.

  • Pros: Historic Midtown Location, Beautiful People
  • Cons: Parking Can Be A Challenge

Dishonorable employees

by yassers

they do not honor their guestlist. Last Fri., 6/11/2010, I received a guestlist e-mail for a free entry before 11:30. I drove 30 miles, paid parking and stayed on line for 25 minutes and was at the door 11:25 and presented the guestlist e-mail. Then, the guy checking the line said "we have a special event tonight and the guestlist is not valid but I can get you in for half price". I left because I can not deal with disrespectable, dihonorable people. However, I asked about the manager and told him the story and he confirmed a free guestlist entry before 11:30. Then, he talked with the line guy and came back saying it's a special event as if he did not know about it before!!!

Also, the drinks are way over-piced and the crowd is usually 10 men to 1 women ratio. There are better clubs in Atlanta such as Havana club and Primal club and they always honor their guestlists.

  • Pros: Non
  • Cons: Drinks are too expensive
