What People Are Saying About OPERA

The Owner

OPERA

Owner

Housed in a former 1920's theater, Opera is the place to find the pulse of Atlanta's Buckhead nightlife. A plush interior of red velvet couches and contemporary artwork create an atmsophere of casual classiness. With a multi level main area at a capacity of 1800 and a large outdoor cabana patio, Opera packs in the crowds and keeps them dancing. The cabana area is an inner city oasis where you can escape the madness and even lie on an outdoor bed, cocktail in hand and see the Midtown skyline at night. Our DJs, musical performances and various special events make Opera more than just a nightclub, but THE place to be to either start, spend or end your night. All areas are bookable for parties and special events. We also provide catering services.

In short
With a nod to its historic roots as a 1920s Opera House, the former Crescent Avenue hot spot 1150 unloaded $2 million to renovate and relaunch as Opera. From the staff to singletons, beautiful people pack this midtown mega club and shake it to the sounds of a variety of weekend DJs. The authentic stage, 100-foot domed ceiling and VIP mezzanine opera boxes make it a classy place to let loose over the weekend.

very nice place if you want to feel like you are in LA... too expensive for me... too much into "being seen" for me... I would go back though...

Please read this because it happened just 1 week ago. This is an honest review coming from a person that used to be a fan of Opera. Last weekend I went to Opera with a group of 11 people to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We were greeted at the door by one of Opera’s promoters. He said that he could offer us a great deal: a table for our group, 2 bottles of vodka, and 2 bottles of champagne for $450. The 11 members of the group listened to his offer and we were all very excited and accepted it. We got to the table and everything went well, but the 2 bottles of champagne were never served. At the end of the night, we all went to a room located downstairs to pay for the table. AND THIS IS WHEN THINGS BECAME RIDICULOUS. We were shocked when we were given a tab of $850. We informed the Opera employees that there was a problem with the tab, and that we had been told that the price would be $450. Two bouncers came to the scene and tried to intimidate us into paying. They said that the promoter that had offered us the deal had already left, so there was nothing we could do about it. The Opera employees were EXTREMELY rude, and kept on saying that we had 10 minutes to pay or else we would all be thrown in jail. We called 911. The police officers said that the only thing that we could do was pay the $850 tab and then contact the credit card company the following day to contest the payment. They said that the promoter who had offered us the deal was gone and that nothing could be done at that time. In the end, we had to pay $850 to avoid going to jail. Needless to say how upset we all were by the incident. The credit card company has already been contacted and we have hired a lawyer to initiate action against Opera. But the most upsetting thing was the way in which we were treated by the Opera employees. We were verbally humiliated, we were kept inside a room for over 1 hour and never did they even consider the possibility that we weren’t just trying to get away from paying the tab. BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU GO THERE. ME AND 10 OTHER PEOPLE LEARNED IT THE HARD WAY.

I really like Opera, it was my favorite club to go to until last Friday night.(5-1-09) When we were all leaving, a fight broke out. I understand that the bouncers and all of the security need to take care of the situation and get people downstairs, but when someone gets hurt in the fight like being pushed into the door. I think they should take the time to help that person. My friend could hardly walk and the bouncer told her to "Get the f*ck outside!" He didnt care, even after we explained to him that she could hardly walk he didnt care and kept telling us to get downstairs. We were all trying to tell him that we needed to stay with her because she was hurt and he told my friend that if she didnt get downstairs he was going to "kick her in her p*ssy." Which for such a "nice" and "sophisticated" club I thought was completley out of line to say and very disrespectful!(This bouncers name was John) Also, before all of this happened when we were at the bar, the bartenders were very rude and didnt know if they had the kind of vodka I wanted or not.(STOLI?) And to top it off, someguy on the dance floor stole my friends wallet. And in the end, we were all waiting out in the rain to get to talk to someone. Of course no one cared! My friend could barely walk down the stairs and no one bothered to help us. But when a drunk girl came out of VIP there were probably about 3 bouncers all around her trying to help her down the stairs. FUNNY how that works. I'm not saying dont go to Opera because it is a very fun club and I like it. I am just saying, that if you get hurt dont expect anyone to help you. And you will probably end up getting disrespected by a bouncer or a bartender.
