Martinis & Imax

Quick Peek

The Problem
It's Friday night and you want to see a movie, but the new Bruckheimer offering seems a little too explosive and you're sick of Nicolas Cage. You would see that artsy flick everyone's been talking about ... but you'd rather not spend two hours in a cracked pleather seat in some musty art house.

The Solution
How, then, do you spell relief? Fernbank knows: I-m-a-x. Every Friday night, the museum allows you to mingle amidst martinis and catch one of the mesmerizing movies playing in the Imax theater. What's more, live music provides soothing theme music for your post-work weekend wind down. Just show up after 6:30pm on Friday, sample the martini of the month while you make new acquaintances in the Museum's Star Gallery (a planetarium) and find a seat in the theater for either the 7pm, 8pm, 9pm or 10pm show.

Loved this date!! Food was expensive, but they ran out of spinach dip and for free they gave us one of the huge chicken nachos, they were awesome!! We saw Deep Sea, best IMAX I have seen. Over all my husband and I had a wounderful time!!

Pros: Atmosphere, Great Date

Cons: Can be expensive if you eat there

Great concept, still a good first date and movies are great but food is catered, reheated and extremely expensive. Also runs out early so don't plan on eating for the later shows. The acoustics are so terrible that you cannot heard the music, only an irritating series of echos. Also the rest of the museum is closed. Only the movie and gift shop is open.
