In Short – Benihana started out as a tiny four-table restaurant in New York City's theater district before becoming an international chain. Diners sit around large tables where chefs ostentatiously chop, slice, stir-fry and grill. Entree options are simple--shrimp, chicken, steak and scallops--and preparation is uniform. Every entree comes with a similar stock of sides: rice, onion soup, shrimp appetizer, iceberg lettuce drizzled with dressing, sauteed vegetables and green tea.

Not the Benihana I remember
by mareh at Citysearch
I expected more veggies in our stir fry, but we only got onions and zucchini. The filet mignon was fatty and not trimmed on the grill...perhaps it was just a novice hibachi chef. And were charged extra for chicken fried rice, when all we wanted was plain fried rice that you always receive with hibachi. I was not impressed. I will have to find another hibachi grill.
- Cons: No veggies and fatty filet
Sick. Poor Service.

We decided to try Benihana for the first time, as we live within close proximity. We assumed that the food and service would at least be on par with the rest of the hibachi restaurants in the area; sadly mistaken.
We had an unattentive, unintelligible waiter. Our drinks were empty the entire time(even after requesting a refill). Strike one.
Our food was bland and over-priced. The fried rice was dry. Strike two.
Upon arriving home(less than one half mile), both of us were sick to our stomachs.
Do yourself a favor and go to Nakato on Cheshire Bridge. The food rocks. The service rocks.
- Pros: Nice Atmosphere
- Cons: Sick, Terrible Service, Below Average Food
Sick as a dog

After eating their regular lunch with scallops, I was sick as a FIEND during the evening, all through the night and into the morning. I'd have to be a moron to ever eat there again. Whatever they are using for ingredients, flavor, utencils, etc. to feed an enormous amount of people is just plain old or bad. I have never been that sick in my life. NEVER AGAIN!!!
- Pros: None
- Cons: No parking; had to drive down the street and park illegally with others in my party. Crowded and loud and very smokey
