The Scene
A pioneer of the Westside area's dramatic comeback, Taqueria del Sol features a futuristic filling-station look. Inside, it's a spartan arrangement of stainless-steel counters, exposed ductwork and gleaming garage doors. A polished wooden bowl filled with oranges, beachy-looking azure cinder block and a wall lined with jewel-toned tequilas make it all feel breezy and far away.
The Food
Authentic Mexican flavors abound, whether in sporty sounding boutique tacos or hard-core authentic street fare. Opt for popular hickory-smoked pork tacos with barbecue sauce and coleslaw, or addictive fried chicken tacos with lime-jalapeno mayonnaise. Also, try straight-up carnitas-style pork with salsa frita, or roasted brisket laced with tangy chili de arbol. Enchiladas, rotisserie chicken topped with green chili, are solid cantina fare. Don't miss a side of nicely spicy turnip greens or rich, smoky charros beans.

The food is excellent, very authentic and inexpensive. The margaritas are the best. The fish tacos are my favorite. The only problem is you have to stand in line for your food and it can be very croweded. But it is worth the wait.

I eat there almost every Saturday and it's is always a pleasant experience with great food. The rules work and why some people feel, just because they have children, that the rules don''t apply to them just amazes me. You sit when you get your food. Period. There is a reason for it and it works as there are almost always empty tables by the time one places their order. If you were so close to ordering, why did it make such a difference to your children to wait two more minutes? If you are looking for a leisurely meal, then Taqueria Del Sol is not for you. But if you are looking for good inexpensive with quick and efficient service, Taqueria Del Sol is it.
