In Short
A decorative mosaic of grass-green patches and geometric shapes composed in red brick, Centennial Olympic Park is positioned between competing skyscrapers. This well-kept green space is a welcome complement to its urban environs. The Quilt of Remembrance, a memorial to those killed by the 1996 Olympic bombing, is the most notable of the park's artistic adornments. Kids love the liquid summer entertainment--jets of water bursting from the five rings of an Olympic logo, moving to the rhythm of music blasting from the loud speakers. Also during the summer, the park holds free concerts; John Cougar Mellencamp, Indigo Girls and Ray Charles are a few of the free acts that have performed in the past. Continuing festivities year-round, the winter sees holiday light decorations and an outdoor skating rink.

This is a great place to go if you are new to Atlanta, are a tourist or just want somewhere free to relax on a pretty day. The only drawback is limited parking!

If you're looking for a place to chill, people-watch, play in the fountains, enjoy some tunes, throw a frisbee, catch some rays - this is the place to be. Spring/Summer, it's a haven for downtown. During the holidays, you can ice skate and enjoy holiday festivities. Best of all, it's free!
