Editorial Review for Assaggio Ristorante – by Citysearch Editors
The Scene
Dark wood, dim lights and Renaissance-style art provide a nearly church-like feel that shifts into party mode as soon as the chef and owner, Mauro Golmarvi, stops by to shake your hand. Booths are the way to go for privacy, as larger tables raise the noise level in a jovial way. Servers are just edgy enough to be fun and offer wise suggestions to those who ask.
The Food
While sweet, meaty prawns with creamy lemon sauce are warming without being too filling, the real treats are yet to come. Veal parmigiana is tender, plush and fragrant with herbs and cheese, while the classic bolognese sauce offers sweet sausage and a touch of cream. End the meal with thick tiramisu, perfectly balanced with a subtle combination of flavors--it's the only house-made dessert; the rest are imported from Italy.

Insider Tips
What to DrinkStart the meal with a bellini, made with imported white peach juice and Prosecco. The wine list is extensive and affordable.

7/3/08 had a fabulous dinner. Seated promptly, service was excellent and the food fantantastic. When traveling years ago in Seattle we ate there and it was wonderful. Glad to see they've maintained the same high quality. They even made me pasta with vodka sauce, something no longer on their menu and it was the best! I highly recommended and will definately be back next time in Seattle!

Assaggio is an amazing restaurant. From the moment we arrived, we received excellent customer service and felt like we were eating at a friend's house. After each course was brought out, either our waiter or the owner would verify that we were satisfied with our food, which of course we were. The dishes were delicious and I'm not sure that it's possible to find better food in Seattle. Be sure to save room for dessert, they are unexpectedly flavorful and definitely underpriced. The food alone makes Assaggio worth visiting, but add in the outstanding customer service and you won't find a better Italian restaurant outside of Italy!
