The best Sandwiches around town!
Updated: February 02, 2010
My tummy sighs with happiness when I bite into The Mercantile's Candler Sandwich. I'm not a huge fan of turkey but this sandwich has the perfect amount roasted to perfection, sweetened with cranberry and cream cheese it's sweet heaven in your mouth. The crispy, salty pancetta is that delightful little added bonus when you bite in.
Atlanta is very familiar with the "The Dirty Bird" but how about the "Dirty Bird in Blue" Castleberry Hill's tiny local haunt Elliott Street Deli & Pub dishes up one of the best birds in town! Get your fill of Chunky blue cheese atop gooey melted Swiss cheese all combined with fresh hot mesquite turkey, lettuce, tomato and onion. Once you finish you'll understand why Elliott Street closes everyday for a much needed siesta!
Chicken Salad is typical staple on many menus these days, so is Highland Bakery for many Atlantans, however they take it one step further with their scrumptious Curried Chicken Salad Sandwich. I love that they use toasted pecans instead of almonds which pair perfectly with the crunch of the red grapes. Hands down one of my favorites things to eat!
Fried Green Tomato BLT....two words make this sandwich the best BLT around PIMENTO CHEESE. Enough said.
Ok technically this is on the "kids" menu but Belly's Peanut butter, Banana, and house made Jelly on toscano bread is one for the books. It takes you back to elementary school days but trust me this PB,B&J is nothing like a cafeteria's, instead it's a melt in your mouth piece of goodness that even Elvis wishes he was still alive to eat!
