PANORAMIC VEGGIE SANDWICH: "The panoramic veggie sandwich (sans cheese) is just a bunch of all my favorite veggies in one amazing $8 meal. It's topped with avocado AND a spicy red pepper hummus that is to.die.for. Hands down the best sandwich I've had, vegan or non-vegan. Plus, it's served with fresh fruit. Dang, I feel healthier just saying it." - Jess J., Veggie Thing Guest

VERY VEGAN PIZZA: "My first thought when purchasing the Very Vegan pizza from Atlanta's uber-eco-obsessed Pizza Fusion was, "what the hell is this cheese made of?" But I have to hand it to the tree-hugging joint, it was actually delicious. Like...I'm-going-to-get-that-again delicious. The crust had a nice snap to it while retaining a bit of chewiness and bubbling on the rim. The "cheese" did a perfect texture impression with a mild taste, allowing crimini mushrooms and garlic to take over the flav-o-meter. Unlike most 'za, after quickly devouring the pie I actually felt like moving around. (Novel concept.) This was perhaps the pie's biggest accomplishment." - Jonathan Baker, City Editor

VEGAN BURGER: "A vegan hamburger? Seriously? As with most carnivores, I am a skeptic when it comes to having a favorite meat of mine turned into a soy situation. So for a vegan burger that I can actually get down, I head to the 24-hour health temple of Atlanta, the R.Thomas Deluxe Grill. First, they win with the bread, a crunchy sourdough that could easily be eaten solo. The sandwich is stuffed with greens, an eggless dijonnaise and is topped with sprouts. The "burger" is thin, letting the veggie/sauce accompaniment take the flavor lead." - Jonathan Baker, City Editor

  4. 4 3.5 Star Rating: Average Soul Vegetarian Restaurant

MAC & CHEESE AND BBQ TOFU: "I've learned many types of food can be transformed into good-tasting and good-for-your vegan dishes--sandwiches, pizzas, and even desserts. But turning the artery-clogging, heavy-and-crave-able soul food is a work of art. Enter Soul Vegetarian: Miracle workers for the healthy meat-n-three. Mac 'n' cheese is surprisingly creamy and dusted with flecks of spice for an added flavor layer. The barbecue tofu is sliced thin and seared long enough to get a little crispy on the outside. (Because all good barbecue has a little char to it.) The sauce is liberal and tastes of Memphis-style. Carnivores might not "get it" but vegans in need of a soul food fix will flip." - Jonathan Baker, City Editor

VEGAN STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE: "After I stuffed my greedy vegan face with an appetizer, a large meal, and picked at my honey's dinner, I went over the edge with the moist and ridonkulously awesome strawberry shortcake! It was stupid good, even for the non-vegan. And with 2 locations, Cafe Sunflower has got to be your number 1 visit next time you're in town." - Carolyn Scott, The Healthy Voyager
