Singletons live for Atlanta. And it doesn't matter if you're a PBR-guzzling Western shirt-wearing hipster or a dolled-up Buckhead Betty that drinks only cosmos, we've got a list of spots built for those on the hunt.

On this page:For the Artistic Types, For Trendsetters and Trendfollowers, For Youthful Indie Kids, For 30-Something Scenesters.

For the Artistic Types

  1. 1 4.5 Star Rating: Recommended High Museum of Art
    Read Reviews

1280 Peachtree St, Atlanta, GA 30309 (map)

Mingling might not be what first comes to mind when you are quietly taking in classic art at Atlanta's most esteemed gallery. But with live jazz music and cocktails to purchase on Friday nights, the High moves into singleton territory. So sip a martini, gaze at a Monet or two but don't forget to keep your eyes peeled for the other type of talent, too.

  2. 2 4 Star Rating: Recommended Eastside Lounge
    Read Reviews

484 Flat Shoals Ave SE, Atlanta, GA 30316 (map)

What more comfortable place for the artistic crowd to swoon than a super-dark room that has both art AND a fully stocked bar? East Atlanta's Eastside Lounge commits a full wall to local art, and DJs spin danceable tunes if you get the urge to shake it. Plus, if things begin to heat up with your new pal, the bathrooms have single-lock doors and plenty of room. Just sayin'.

For Trendsetters and Trendfollowers

  1. 3 4.5 Star Rating: Recommended Halo
    Read Reviews

817 W Peachtree St NW, Atlanta, GA 30308 (map)

You know it's a trendy-cool club when there are no signs, just a big dude standing outside an unmarked door. Halo, Midtown's hippest, windowless club is a sex-charged multileveled den that has a lethal combination of thump-heavy music and absinthe cocktails. Singletons, start your engines.

  2. 4 4 Star Rating: Recommended Two Urban Licks
    Read Reviews

820 Ralph McGill Blvd, Atlanta, GA 30306 (map)

Somehow, by the gift of trendy gods, Two Urban Licks is still a hot restaurant even though it debuted five years ago. The swooping space, live music, skyline views and unique cocktails (poured from vats above the bar) all make for an interesting time if you're not tied down. Plus, if you meet someone, you can partake in a rousing game of bocce ball outside in the courtyard.

  3. 5 5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended W Atlanta - Downtown
    Read Reviews

45 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd, Atlanta, GA 30308 (map)

The fourth W to arrive to Atlanta is easily the coolest and the one with the most options. On the first floor, the elegant BLT Steak and swanky lobby bar, the Living Room, are immediately tempting. Perched one flight up, Drinkshop rocks it with individual ice carvings and homemade ginger ale. And high above on the 16th floor is a rooftop pool that has a bar included. All of this could lead to trouble.

  4. 6 3 Star Rating: Average Whiskey Blue
    Read Reviews

3377 Peachtree Rd, Atlanta, GA 30316 (map)

For the Buckhead trendsetters, look no further than the roof-residing Whiskey Blue. After riding a Wonka-like glass elevator, the club feels a bit Hollywood with plush corner couches and 1960s-style modern chairs. Both single swingers and groups have a chance to mingle in cozy confines or escape with their new friends to the fresh air of the top-floor patio.

  5. 7 3 Star Rating: Average Glenn Hotel
    Read Reviews

110 Marietta St NW, Atlanta, GA 30303 (map)

Despite going on its third restaurant and third owner of the fabulous rooftop bar, the Glenn is still the coolest hotel in town. On the weekends (during good weather months), the roof is a hotbed for hotties dressed to the nines. And did we mention there are hotel rooms attached to this bar? How convenient.

For Youthful Indie Kids

  1. 8 3.5 Star Rating: Average Graveyard Tavern
    Read Reviews

1245 Glenwood Ave SE, Atlanta, GA 30312 (map)

When you think of the Western shirt and American Apparel-sporting crowd, you immediately think East Atlanta Village. While Midway is under-the-radar and the EARL is still the hippest venue in town, Graveyard Tavern is where the singles go to mingle. The space is big enough to find multiple new "friends" in a night, plus dancing, video projections and impromptu photo shoots just add to the freewheeling experience.

  2. 9 4 Star Rating: Recommended Star Community Bar
    Read Reviews

437 Moreland Ave, Atlanta, GA 30307 (map)

Once a biker-channeling, rock-a-billy bar, Star Bar rose to indie-rock prominence when new ownership shifted the musical direction and Thursday nights became free showcases with bitchin' new bands. Find a new squeeze and take them downstairs to the cellar bar for a quiet(er) chat and a PBR tallboy.

  3. 10 4 Star Rating: Recommended 97 Estoria
    Read Reviews

727 Wylie St, Atlanta, GA 30316 (map)

This place will never not be cool. Lodged on a corner of Cabbagetown, this smoky joint is like a hipster magnet that somehow still attracts the locals. We chalk it up to the pretentious-less setup: The menu has vegan dishes but also serves fried pickles, suds are on the cheap and the patio is dog-friendly.

  4. 11 4.5 Star Rating: Recommended Mjq Concourse
    Read Reviews

736 Ponce de Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30306 (map)

What better place to hang with singles than an underground club that has no signage? There is no dress code, breakdancers square off in side rooms, DJs spin everything from trip-hop to Brit-pop and drinks are cheap but stiff. The crowd is colorful but on the young side--if that's not your bag, head next door to Book House Pub, land of the aging hipster.

For 30-Something Scenesters

  1. 12 4 Star Rating: Recommended Lola Bellini Bar & Restaurant
    Read Reviews

3280 Peachtree Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30305 (map)

Her name is Lola and she's a showplace. From the swooning mind that brought us Strip, Twist, Shout, Noche et al., this entrant into the entree games is a frothy, fun watering hole that happens to serve food, too. Get dolled up and play along; it's Buckhead's finest see-and-be-seen bar crowd.

  2. 13 4.5 Star Rating: Recommended Highland Tap
    Read Reviews

1026 N Highland Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30306 (map)

Don't be fooled. Weeknights and early hours see an expected steakhouse crowd but as the night grows long on weekends, things get weird at the Highland Tap: The windowless stone-wrapped bar area transforms into cougar central. Expense-account-carrying businessmen and sauced adventurous frat guys have equal chance with the ladies here.

  3. 14 4 Star Rating: Recommended Holman & Finch Public House
    Read Reviews

2277 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30309 (map)

This pick is because chasing tail as you get older is more about substance than style. For the sophisticated 30-something looking for interesting drinks, better-than-average food and an adventurous (but intelligent) crowd, gastro-champ Holeman & Finch delivers in a big way. Head to the bar for their 10pm burger and conversations will come to you.
